We’re 4 weeks into the NFL Season and Tim Tebow is still a huge story – not just locally in Denver, but across the whole country. I just saw an article in yesterday’s Washington Post titled: “Tim Tebow deserves a shot at the Broncos’ starting quarterback drive.” You can read it here.
There’s also another article posted on the Bleacher Report titled: “Tim Tebow: Could Denver QB’s Career Mirror Aaron Rodgers?” Aaron Rodgers is a future HOFer, but I get what the author is trying to say. Rodgers didn’t player right away when he came into the NFL, and look at him now. You can read it here.
And then we’ve got Pat Kirwin of NFL.com writing an article titled: “Time to see what Tebow and Ponder can bring to the table.” You can read it here.
The point is, people all over the country are writing about Tebow every day… always asking the same question: When will he get his shot? No one understands what the Broncos are doing – the organization looks completely mismanaged from the top down. They have a terrible QB in Kyle Orton, and he’s only signed through this year. Tim Tebow has a multi-year contract with the Broncos. It just makes no sense to not let him get a shot. We saw just a glimpse of what he can do at the end of 2010 and it was very encouraging.
While I understand the history of Aaron Rogers sitting behind Brett Favre for three years in Green Bay, and learning from the most prolific QB in history, does anyone think that Kyle Orton can teach Tim Tebow anything? I believe that real game experience is going to be Tim’s best teacher and that Orton doesn’t have the ability, or the willingness, to teach Tim a thing about playing QB in the NFL. Some people forget that we saw Tim start 3 games as a rookie, so we’re not buying this line that he’s not ready. That’s bull and we need to remind everyone of that fact.
On another note, we’re looking forward to the re-design of our favorite site, Tim Tebow Zone. Keep up the good work David.
I think David Fostor is right, Orton can’t stand Tim because he knows the Denver Fans adore Tim. So why would he be inclined to help him?
There’s also this video posted on the NY Times calling for Tim to start:
http://video.nytimes.com/video/2011/10/03/multimedia/100000001088450/time-for-tebow.html
The only problem I have w/this is I’m not so sure I want Tim to even play in the kind of offensive system they have in Denver this year. Even though it’s being run by McCoy, it’s not the same as last year. Woody Paige said he could tell in the preseason that the entire offensive approach was the opposite of the kind that would work for Tim. Tomorrow night on NFL Network there’s going to be a 1-hour doc about Kurt Warner’s career. When he went to NY, he was terrible & it’s b/c the NY system wasn’t changed to use his strengths. That’s what all good coaches do-they come up w/systems that play to the players’ strengths. I really don’t believe John Fox (who I’m starting to suspect played w/out a helmet, if you know what I mean) would be willing to do that. So Tim would simply get thrown out there & made to look bad-possibly intentionally-just like that 1 stupid running play against GB.
I hate this entire situation. That NFL.com piece is about Tebow & Ponder. Yet Ponder’s a rookie. Tim’s actually started 3 games & did well. Yet, it’s like Tim’s success in the red zone plays & those 3 games never happened. That’s what’s so insane about this. The only stat I ever see quoted by Tebow doubters/haters that goes back to last year is the 50% completion rate. That’s it. They’re not even willing to give him a fair shot. I hate this. I just hope, in the long run, that it all works out for the best. That this time proves to have all been a prelude to something very good for Tim.
All of Tim’s potential and success is ignored because the management in Denver does not want him. He needs to leave Denver. They have more potential to harm him than to help him. In his documentary, Tim said he does not want to work with someone who does not believe in him and believe that he can be a quarterback. He needs to be traded to that person who does believe in him and then the sky is the limit. If Tim were less the person that he is, Denver would have robbed him of his spirit by now but I know that he will hang in there until he gets a chance. As fans we need to let him know loud and clear that we believe in him and know that he will be a quarterback in the NFL no matter how much we are disdained and reviled by the media, pass the Kool-Aid!!
Very happy about the pressure being put on the Bronco’s “PRESUMED MANAGEMENT TEAM” to play Tebow and bench Orton!!!! Tebow’s fortitude has definitely served him well and sometimes that is the difference between success and failure!!!! Hope he continues to not give up on his dream to be an NFL STARTING QB AND THAT ALL THE “FAITHFUL FANS” RALLY IN HIS DEFENSE NO MATTER WHAT SO THAT WHEN (“NOT IF”) HE ATTAINS HIS GOAL IT WILL HAVE ALL BEEN WORTH THE CHARACTER BUILDING PROCESS!!!! I KNOW I, FOR ONE, WILL BE ECSTATIC TO SEE THIS COME ABOUT B/C HE MORE THAN ANYONE DESERVES AS MUCH AND MORE!!!! GOD KNOWS IF ANYONE CAN OVERCOME OBSTACLES IT’S HIM (PHILIPPIANS 4:13–”CAN DO ALL THINGS…”)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GO TEBOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YES, GO TEBOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They have a terrible QB in Kyle Orton, and he’s only signed through this year. Tim Tebow has a multi-year contract with the Broncos. It just makes no sense to not let him get a shot. We saw just a glimpse of what he can do at the end of 2010 and it was very encouraging.
There’s an article in the Denver Post by Woody Paige about Timmy’s just sitting and waiting and comments by John Fox. What I get from Fox’s comments is that Timmy brings some unique skills to the NFL game that could be very beneficial but he doesn’t think he has the time to develop those, ” It is hard enough to practice one set of offensive plays.” He also says that Timmy will one day be a terrific NFL QB. It just doesn’t seem he wants to develop it. Woody asks, “What can Tebow do besides sit and wait and be ready?” What can he do? Get Jummy Sexton working on a trade! These people do not deserve Timmy’s loyalty.
They’ve done nothing to earn it and if they play him and he succeeds, it’s because of who he is, not anything they have done. Go Tebow!!!!
The problem is John Elway not John Fox. I saw Elway on several NFL network making comments on Tebow. When Elway first started he was having a press conference and he told them Tebow could not play, that he was not a QB. Statements on Around the League and Total Access. During the super bowl while being on Total Access he stated that Kyle Orton is Denvers QB.
i’m with you brooke & also yeah orton doesn’t like tebow much, that always happens in things like this even when players are friends. got go, thanks
Come on everyone. I must be the only bronco fan who can see that Tebow IS NOT the next John Elway. He’s a terrible (NFL) quarterback. He actually may have made a decent receiver given some time to train at that position but he is not our best bet for a winning team. Tebow or Or ton, accept that we are going to have a bad season & we need to look to trade for or recruit a new QB soon.
skeletoes is right, Tebow is not the next John Elway. He’s a much better QB than Elway could ever hope to be. Get used to it haters, it’s TEBOW TIME!!!
Didn’t we Gators tell you? Fasten your seat belts, Denver, it’s going to be the ride of your lives!!! It’s Tebow Time again!! The first couple of plays Timmy looked like that lifeless, robotic Tebow we’ve been seeing. Then he ran for the touchdown and the Tebow passion exploded on his face! You could see him come alive and the team came right along with him. So proud of you, Timmy. Practice hard and just do what you do best- be TEBOW. Can’t wait to see you play in Miami!!! Stay healthy and God Bless!
So now John Fox is throwing a little hissy fit. Can’t admit he’s been wrong all along even as most of the Denver media is finally waking up to the fact that we’ve seen Tim play in real game situations and he’s the best thing Denver has seen in years…maybe ever. Fox was quick to point out after the game that Tim made some good plays but also some bad ones. Never heard any criticism at all about Denver’s ex-QB, Kyle Orton. The best thing for Denver now would be to ship Fox & Orton out of town, or perhaps just leave them in Miami in a couple weeks. Kyle could audition for the Dolphins job and Fox could take a one way trip to the everglades. Gators eat Fox’s don’t they? Also saw Elway standing on the sideline Saturday night at the Stanford/CU game. Give it up John, Luck isn’t coming here to play for Tim’s Team–we don’t need him, don’t want him. Looks like the Colts will end up first in the draft, looking for Peyton’s successor. Anyway, great game Tim, we’re proud of you man!
DEFINITELY ECSTATIC NOW…PROUD TO BE A T2 FAN…GREAT JOB ON ALL THE TDS AND KUDOS TO T2 FOR BEING THE BEST; PLUS, HE CERTAINLY DESERVES ALL THE ACCOLADES!!!! PRAYING TIM CONTINUES TO OVERCOME ALL OBSTACLES!!!!
GO TEBOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
P.S. AGREE WITH TISA, DAVID AND VICKIE WHOLE HEARTEDLY!!!!!!
Great insight from most posters here ie, I agree. As ole Granny sees it, the self-serving greedy dweebs in Denver who drafted “Mr Popularity” just to get a piece of his aura without caring that his style of q.backing is alien to their “Elway” style, without caring that the best rookie years of Tim’s life would be spent bench-sitting and struggling in his few appearances to play their style, without adequately preparing him for it, now must do their best for the rest of this year to hurriedly and caotically re-design their playbook around his strengths (which they won’t, since they begrudge playing him at all); and at the end of the year, trade him to a team that wants to build their forseeable future around him as their main man – SEATTLE! And yes, if Bronco’s head cheeses sabotage Tim’s playing just enough this year to make certain he can only help the team win one or two more games, maybe they will get that coveted first pick and pick Elway’s pet player from his alma mater, Luck, ’cause they sure need some *luck* for the greedy self-centered way they operate under Elway’s influence. Dumbies!! They don’t appreciate what Tim brings to their table, so they don’t deserve to keep him, let him go where he can help his team shine and go all the way to SB. Meanwhile, Best Wishes to Broncos team and Tim while he’s still there and still in one piece.
Granny will concede that the Elway style was a winner for Denver and is the system they know best, so there is no reason to discard it to start a new system just to accommodate a qb like Tebow. They just need to acknowledge that they made a draft mistake as he is not a good fit for them, make a great trade for Tebow at end of season so that both sides win, and draft themselves another great arm who fits their playing style and coaching philosophy.
