Tebow Struggles In Broncos Loss To Detroit

The Denver Broncos got pummeled by the Detroit Lions yesterday, 45-10. Tim Tebow was sacked 7 times in the game, and just generally didn’t play well at all. He was 18/39 for 172 yards passing with 1 touchdown and 1 interception. He also ruhed the ball 10 times for 63 yards. He also had a fumble.

Some people in Denver are already talking about making the switch back to Kyle Orton.

“It’s too early to say. I haven’t even taken a shower yet, let alone look at the tape,” Fox said when asked who would be his quarterback next weekend. “But we’ll look at it and make changes where we see are needed. We’ve definitely got to get better.”

The Broncos are in Oakland next week. It’s going to be another tough game for Tim and the boys. The whole team needs to step up, especially the defense — they should be the hook for giving up 45 points.

Here’s a video of one of the Detroit players mocking Tebow after a sack

This year & the next few games are probably gonna be tebow’s chance. The way so many rookie QBs have been play’n, the top 6 set to come out of college this year, the simple basics he doesn’t have down yet & all the teams that passed over him in the draft I fear his chance has got a few more games if he plays like that. Why would a team take time & energy to help him or wait for him to get the basic skills like throw’n a curle route when all these rookies are coming from college? Now the broncos aren’t good at all or even close but tebow doesn’t even move his feet correctly for throwing the ball, read coverage & he looks confused with his head moving all around & looks down 1 WR. I thought he was gonna build on the end of the miami game, for the 1st time I think he’s got it in his head that what he did in college will work just fine & it won’t. The bad thing for him is every team is gonna go with what gets you the best as easy as you can & the top 6 in college have much better pro skills than he does so who is gonna give him time like he needs & wants & why would they when guys like ponder look far better than tebow at the basics that a QB should already know. If he would read coverage while drop’n back he could’ve saved half the sacks with 5 steps & throw the ball. That’s something every QB should know.
I don’t think the broncos want him & want the fans to leave them alone about wanting him to play. Atleast some broncos fans are starting want what’s best for the team & not just tebow play’n no matter what & making excuse after excuse about him. Tebow bud you need to figure out a way to get out of the spot light that too many people who like you & dislike you have put on you & just learn a lot & forget everything you did in college. Also the broncos were running plays he can’t do which made him look worse but with the fan support & out cry for tebow its no suprise cause that annoys coaches all day long when fans think they know more

Tim Tebow did not score 45 points for the Lions – the defense did it!
Let them take the heat! He will win in Oakland if the team follows his lead and not try to foul him up. Hew knows how to win. His team does not. Only his defense knows how to lose! They must follow his lead as his team did for years at Florida!

In regard to “Mocking” a Christian in Prayer … (In this instance – Tim Tebow)
The Satanic “Scum Bags” are exponentially increasing – as the “latter Days” are upon us. But – so were many of us – before we accepted Christ’s Gift of Salvation – I pray that many of them / You – will check out John 3:16 – the TRUTH can set you free also.

But in the mean time to reinforce Tim and where he is at – trying to be “LIGHT” in a DARK World>
    The Virtue of Having Enemies
    by Henry Morris, Ph.D.
“Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets.” (Luke 6:26)
It is no compliment to say about a Christian that he has no enemies, for that is the same as saying he has accomplished nothing. The apostle Paul had many bitter enemies, and they finally got him executed. In fact, almost all of the great heroes of the faith, through all the centuries since Satan gained his victory over Adam and Eve, have had to overcome bitter opposition from that wicked one.
So instead of resenting our enemies, we should thank God for them, for they enable us to become more like our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! Only through such experiences can we learn what it means to say, with Paul: “I am crucified with Christ” (Galatians 2:20). Only if we have enemies can we learn to obey Christ’s difficult command to “love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you” (Matthew 5:44).
The Lord Jesus easily could have called on twelve legions of angels to rout His enemies (Matthew 26:53). Instead, He submitted to their vicious insults and cruel tortures, even praying in His agony on the cross, “Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do” (Luke 23:34). The enemies of Christ killed Him, but had they not done so, He would not have died for our sins, and we would be lost eternally. This is a mystery to ponder, and difficult to comprehend, yet, as the Bible promises, “Surely the wrath of man shall praise thee” (Psalm 76:10).
The enmity of men can thus be a channel of divine grace to the believer, for “tribulation worketh patience” (Romans 5:3), and “our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory” (2 Corinthians 4:17). HMM

  3. Jasper says:

Clearly the Broncos are just a bad team, with more problems than a QB who’s in a situation he’s not ready for, but Tebow has some serious problems at the position.
Put simply he’s not accurate enough, and he does not make reads quickly.

It only makes things worse that there’s not nearly enough help around him, and why Denver keeps trading away its best talent is the bigger mystery.
Maybe, in another situation, with a different scheme, better…
everything, and an Ex-Florida O-Coordinator, who knows?

But for now, Tebow’s yips, which become skips in his footwork, woeful inaccuracy, and holding the ball too long result not in an ‘exciting brand of football’ but simply that he turned the ball over twice, resulting in scores, and that the Broncos can’t convert on 3rd down.

Both of those turnovers — a third-quarter fumble and fourth-quarter pick 6 interception thrown yards behind an open receiver in the end zone — resulted in Lions touchdowns. And on 3rd downs, Broncos were 0-for-8 at one point and finished the game 2-for-14.

Tebow played terrible— you can’t really argue that. He now has the away games in Oakland and KC to improve on basic fundamentals before the home fans, the most QB-As-Savior-Myth focused fans in the league, turn fully on him. Add in the hubbub and backlash- including sites like this, the Tebow-ing, and the Mocking- and however it goes, it surely makes for high sporting entertainment.

Vs Oakland and KC Tebow will either play better, or get ready to hear chants of “Or-Ton, Or-Ton” during the Jets game.

  4. David Fostor says:

So now Tim is 1-1 as a starter this season, while Kyle was benched after a 1-4 start. Last year, Orton was 3-10 before being benched and Denver was being blown out consistently, sometimes by even bigger margins (Oakland game). So the coaching staff needs to go back to the offensive style that would help their team and young QB, which they used successfully against Detroit on the first drive, then abandoned. Poor coaching can lead to bad playing, yesterday was a great example. The answer to the Broncos problems are clear. Get rid of the Elway problem, the Fox problem, design and execute game plans around the players you have on the field, not in your mind while thinking about next years draft. Then make those players work and drill until their performance matches the increased effort. But it all starts with a coaching staff and game plan that puts 53 players in a position to win.
The Elway and Fox problem I refer to is their combined inability to motivate their team instead of constantly tearing them down and further humiliating them. Those two are a poison to this team and community and need to go far, far, away.

    • jason says:

If you abandon coaches & GM for a player you might as well write off finding coaches because you then tell every coach that they have to cater to tebow & no coach is gonna do that or GM. Plus WR will stay away from there. best hing for the broncos is get’n barkley or jones coming out of college this year which is more than likely their plan. Tebow can’t make the most basic throws, that’s something that coach & GM have little to do with & the lions made adjustments on defense after that 1st drive of the broncos to hit the middle more. Like it or not tebow just doesn’t have the pro skill set & they gave him 50 shotgun snaps & threw bad passes that were not on the WRs. He needs a lot of work & more than any team will give him because of the talent coming out of college that already know what tebow is try’n to still learn. Hopefully he’ll do better this week but the tape he has put is a blue print for how to stop him all day everyday.
The problem with the broncos are many but they just have 3 bad QBs. 3 guys other teams don’t want.

  5. jason says:

Thing is he took about 80 snaps & 50 or better were in the shotgun. Its about reads check downs & for god sake stop holding the ball all day try’n to make something happen. Quick fast throw but learn how to throw the simple routes that are a must. No team is gonna want him with all the talent coming out of college that already know this stuff. The simple way to beat tebow is force him to beat you with his arm because he can’t do that& though the broncos defense wasn’t good tebow gave the lions 14 points. You just can’t miss short out routes, that’s an issue of not spending the offseason throw’n 35000 passes to get better which is what most top QBs do. He has convinced himself that he can play like in college & win & even if he might somehow could no team is gonna let him do that & fans shouldn’t expect that, their job & goal is to win not do whatever it takes to make tebow better when you can draft a guy who is furture along at being a pro QB than tebow is right now. I feel sorry for tebow but some of it he’s brought on his self by not buy’n into what everyone told him he’d need to do to be a great QB in the NFL. He has a long road to go & I doudt any team is gonna bother with all the pro ready guys coming out of college & who can blame them? The guy who drafted him isn’t even a head coach anymore. I think tebow better get ready for being a back up QB for a long time, the most simple small things he can’t do. I hope it gets better for him but he has a long way to go & I can’t think of a reason a team will bother with when it will take him a year or 3 to learn when college kids already know & do. Ponder & dalton show so much promise & have those skills down & haven’t had near the amount of time with the team & system. 6 top notch QBs coming out this year so the real question is gonna be which one will be starting at denver next year cause there’s no way tebow will beat out luck, barkley, jones & the like for the starting job

  6. T2fan says:

David F.- You make a case for why the team is struggling and I agree that if they would just let Tebow be Tebow and stop all their “CRAPPY” play calling as well as trading away players that help the team be successful then it would be possible to WIN GAMES!!!!!!!!!! Lets not forget that Coach Fox was FIRED for being the worst NFL coach while in Carolina and the team was eligible for the #1 DRAFT PICK…THIS IS WHY ELROT HIRED HIM IN THE FIRST PLACE IT SEEMS B/C HE DOES NOT WANT TEBOW TO SUCCEED DUE TO TARNISHING HIS SO CALLED IMAGE AS THE BRONCO’S #1 QB; HOWEVER, WHEN HE STARTED HE WAS “THE PITS” AND TEBOW HAS ALREADY PROVEN HE HAS WHAT IT TAKES TO WIN IN DENVER IN SPITE OF ELROT!!! So what, he had a bad game, who as a QB has not and for that they are thinking of changing yet again…the only people that need to be changed are the coaching staff/EFX (HYPOCRITES WHO SAY ONE THING AND DO ANOTHER) who stink up the field with their pitiful play calling!!! They are probably giving bonuses for players not catching what Tebow throws to them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Who knows what kinda “CRAP” they are capable of when it comes to getting what they want…well, THANK GOD the fans know better and guess they will finally find that out b/c anyone that knows Tebow can see the obstacles that are placed before him AND HE HAS ALWAYS OVERCOME THEM!!!!! PRAYING FOR YOU TEBOW AND KNOW YOU WILL COME BACK EVEN STRONGER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. ck says:

Yes, David F., you are exceptionally insightful and will take your opinion as credit worthy!!! Great read…love the commentary when it is absolutely “THE TRUTH” THEY DON’T WANT YOU TO KNOW…TAKES SOMEONE WHO HAS THE ABILITY TO THINK WELL TO COME UP WITH THIS ANALOGY AND DEFINITELY GREAT ANALYSIS IMO!!!!!

  8. ck says:

Oh, agree with T2FAN also…glad we have fans that keep believing b/c he is exceptional on and off the field which has always been a given! “ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS” ANYWAY!!!!!!!
    GO TEBOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. start brady quinn says:

Pretty sure Orton or Quinn would’ve beat Miami too David they’re the worst team in the league.

The defense didn’t give up 45 points, they gave up 31 and Tebow gave up 14 which is more than he scored for the Broncos. Both turnovers were examples of what every expert is saying about why Tebow can’t be an NFL starter.

The fumble recovery for a TD would not have happened without Tebow’s legendary slow release. Most QB’s would’ve been able to get the ball out of there in time and it wouldn’t have counted as a fumble. The interception return for a TD was a terrible throw and an example of him not being able to read a defense or lead a receiver.

You gotta face the facts man. Tebow is excellent in goal-line situations, shows a ton of heart, and has great leadership qualities. But he’s just not good enough to be an NFL starter. Maybe the team would’ve been better if they drafter Tebow in the 4th round and used the first rounder on a defensive player.

  10. ck says:

Alan: Just finished with the link and totally agree with what couch stated regarding FOX & CO. = SABOTAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE FANS NEED TO RUN THESE DEVIOUS SABOTEURS OUT OF DENVER IF THEY EVER WANT A TEAM THAT WINS…TALK ABOUT LACKING IN THE ETHICS DEPT.!!!!!!!!!
FINALLY, PEOPLE ARE SEEING THROUGH WHAT THEY ARE OUT TO TRY AND ACCOMPLISH!!!! IT WILL TAKE MORE THAN THAT TO TRY AND DESTROY ONE OF THE BEST QBS IN THE HISTORY OF COLLEGE AND HAS BROKEN NFL RECORDS AS WELL!!!!! PLUS, GUESS THE RAMS ARE WINNING NOW WITH BRANDON LLOYD AND COACH MCDANIELS WHO PICKED TEBOW SO GO FIGURE!!!!!!! I SAY GET RID OF THE POISON COACH AND CO. BEFORE THEY DO ANY MORE DAMAGE!!! YEA, DAMAGE CONTROL IS IN ORDER AND HE NEEDS TO RESIGN IF THIS IS HIS ONLY MOTIVE!!
TEBOW IS ONLY DOING THE RIGHT THINGS AND PLAYING BY THE RULES AND FOR THIS HE DOES NOT DESERVE THEIR MISMANAGEMENT AND BELOW STANDARDS TREATMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THIS INFURIATES THE FAN BASE IN MORE WAYS THAN ONE AND HOPE IT BACKFIRES ON THEIR ILL ADVISED PLANS AND HE KEEPS WINNING IN SPITE OF THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GO TEBOW AND DON’T LET THE TURKEYS GET YOU DOWN AS YOU WILL OVERCOME ALL OF THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. T2fan says:

Guess ck is right about a lot of what the fans have been noticing and support the decision also to ‘RUN THEM OUT OF DENVER”! Would like to congratulate you on a well thought out commentary also!!!

  12. jason says:

You guys are completely looking past the fact that tebow can’t read coverage & make the most basic of throws, you do realize this right? The main point is that tebow isn’t gonna be in denver longer than elway & fox are not gonna keep him unless he gets a lot better & they will draft a QB who already has what they want & if they win the fans in majority will support them. I’m not emotional invest in any player, if tebow does great then fine if not replace him is fine too. So many people that know so much more about football than all of us do point out the simple things that fans can’t even seem to notice.
Elway is there for a while & tebow is gonna have to do it the way he wants or tebow will be leave’n. You guys do understand this I hope cause you’re in for a massive let down if you don’t. I care about watching the NFL & want great QBs & its very ill informed to call what tebow did as great, forget play calling, its the basics that have nothing to do with plays he has a lot of trouble doing. Better yet watch lots of other QBs & notice how they move their feet & throw the ball & read coverage. The coaches cut back on the reads to help him & he still can’t do it. The QBs coming out this year are gonna fill up QB slots as starters next year like it or not & why develope a QB who needs so much work when you can go get a game ready one? I often think too many fans are to busy screaming at the tv or at the field that they don’t watch the game itself.
Really its not that tebow can’t get this stuff down its more of finding a team that’s gonna bother with him to become a great QB.

    • Alan says:

I’m glad you’re not the Broncos coach Jason. Your armchair criticism is a bit harsh. Tim is nowhere as bad as you make him out to be. Check out the plays last week where the offensive line gave their QBs a couple of seconds to make it happen, they all struggled, the good ones too. With no rushing attack, the brunt of Denver’s offense falls solely on Tebow, whose EVERY move is analyzed and criticized. It’s only his second start this year. Hang in there, give him time.

  13. Tim's a winner says:

Hey ck – Great post! You are absolutely right in your assumptions and
most of the JA’s are in need of finding a site where all can agree on
the fact that no one else wants to listen a/o read their self-promo dribble of no significance whatsoever!! Keep up the great posts and, hopefully, the people that need to be elsewhere will find another site to spew garbage!!

    • jason says:

So because you dislike simple facts they don’t matter? ……….Ok. its amazing how fans discount anything they don’t like & somehow seem to know more than the NFL does. Nothings ever tebow’s fault.

  14. J Eley says:

re: us so-called “fanatical” Tebow fans, we don’t think he’s the “second coming”. We are aware that he’s brand new to the NFL, and it’s a learning process. We Don’t expect him to jump right in like a veteran QB and ‘save the day’. This is an ongoing process. He will continue to improve, and that’s all we’re asking. We knew it wasn’t going to be easy, but we also know that no-one has more passion, heart, and ‘give it all’ attitude. we’re not ‘fair weather fans’. we’re here for the long haul. No one can expect more from him than he does, and that’s why we’re supportive. The bottom line to all the naysayers out there is just give him a fair chance! He’s played in 5 games and started 2. but, ‘bad’ media always sells better

Praying Isa 40:31 for you Tim.

  17. Tim's a winner says:

Agree w/Alan b/c Tebow will: “SOAR LIKE AN EAGLE”…100% ON TIM’S SIDE!
    Ditto to J. Eley also!

  18. David Fostor says:

Had to point out to a couple haters on another site that as bad as Tim’s QB rating was yesterday, after 5 starts it’s still better than Elway’s was after 5 starts. John was so bad he was benched at halftime in his first two games, and benched entirely in his 5th. Also, now we’re expected to believe that Denver somehow put together 53 guys that can’t play football in the presence of exceptional coaching. Suppose that’s numerically possible, but highly improbable. Does Tim need to improve at his job? He’d be the first to tell you yes. Do the coaches need to improve? Should Eric Decker have drug is second foot for a touchdown in the end zone? Should the offense coordinator kept with the spread offense after the first series? Should Champ have let Calvin Johnson burn him down the sideline? Should Lance Ball held on a little tighter before he fumbled? Should the offensive line have done a better job keeping Detroit out of the Denver backfield? Guess all those problems were Tim’s fault too. I’m not going to apologize for Tim Tebow because when you give your best and fall short, no apology is necessary. Apparently perfect people don’t get that one.

  19. David Fostor says:

Facts are tough for Tebow Haters to endure. Let them try these ones on.

    http://www.athlonsports.com/nfl/tim-tebow-john-elway-comparison

  20. jason says:

I don’t compare tebow to elway & I don’t hate tebow. I do agree with you david on the problems as a whole with the team completely. My point is tebow does do a lot wrong that pro QBs can’t do if they are to last & get a long chance.
The broncos are not a good team by a long shot but you can’t sit & think its the world against tebow, watch the game, he can’t read coverage, make simple throws & do a very simple thing like move his feet where they are suppose to be for a QB to throw the ball on target well.
Remember its no skin off my back in anyway of what tebow does or doesn’t do. I look at the whole picture & he has some massive fundamental issues & my biggest point is how many teams are gonna give him the time he needs when you have so many pro ready QBs that are come from college this year? And please don’t say a guy like luck doesn’t have skills better than tebow cause not one NFL scout, coach or GM would tell you that.
I’m say’n tebow does have issues he has to work on that he should already have down & get back past elway from years ago, look at kids coming out & doing very well & showing such great promise. I have no promblem at all with tebow becoming great in the NFL if he does but he is not at this moment & is not close to better than so many others.

If I hated tebow i’d say it but I don’t , I just don’t like when fans say someone is better than what they really are at this moment. Will he work hard? Yes…. harder than everyone in the NFL? If you think that you know very little about so many other great QBs. Look it up. Is he a bigger competior than anyone elseN go look up how other QBs are. Its the issue that people here think that no one comes close to tebow that’s just not true & how many people here have taken the time to know about so many other players?
Its cool to love tebow, who can’t , everything about him is the way you’d wish so many other people would be but when it comes to football in the NFL he has a long way to go at QB & 32 of 32 teams will take the easy way because they need to win & to think that tebow has everything a team needs is not true .

I hope tebow does get it all down but he isn’t showing that he has progressed close to what he should on the things that have nothing to do with anything in this world but him. I respect greatly the loyality all of you have for him & don’t knock that at all. I blame the team for the loss just like I credit the team for the win against miami. This is a tebow site though so I haven’t bothered with who else did wrong & have talked only about
tebow’s skill set being bad & needing work, I don’t put him down as a person like too many media jackasses do.

  21. jason says:

I do have great respect for the support you good folks have for him & I don’t wish his failure in the least, why would anyone do that? I wish the best for everyone, I enjoy talking about what’s done. If he goes out & does great & does what he needs to do to show real promise you’ll hear me praise him & give congrats on his performance. I will not say he did great or blame others for the basic NFL QB skills that a starting QB should have down because that’s equally wrong.
Will tebow get the time he needs? Who knows but its not everyone in the NFL against him, if he lights the field up & wins every game then why wouldn’t elway & fox want that because it makes them look great & every fan loving them cause you know they’d take credit for it all day long. If they completely don’t want him no matter how he does then why wouldn’t they cut or trade him? Its not jersey sales because all that money is split equal 32 ways. Why wouldn’t they want a player like him to be a great QB for them, he isn’t get’n paid much & fans love him and he doesn’t get introuble. What does elway & fox gain by tebow not doing well? They don’t have to have him doing bad to trade or bench or cut him? They can do nothing but win for themselves if tebow is great & catch crap if he doesn’t by tebow fans, why do that other than tebow just has a long way to go & his fans need to understand that it may take him longer than its worth the investment to get him there.

David F. – Wow, the stats in the article speak volumes…TEBOW OUT PERFORMS ELWAY IN EVERY WAY!!!! So glad that “Tim’s a winner” is on this site…you are a site saver!!!! Also, David, thanks for the info. that article pretty much sums it up as to why EFX won’t let Tebow succeed and certainly manipulating situations to their advantage…read where the game on Sunday generated the most watched program aired at the time with over 280,000 viewers and the highest of any audience rating; this translates into $$$$!!!!
Guess that explains a lot of things in that they are envious of all the support that Tebow gets that is for sure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Guess SOMEONE can’t figure it out due to having insufficient thought processes…In other words, need to S-P-E-L-L IT OUT!!!!!!

  26. jason says:

Why is what elway did through 5 games relate to tebow & his basic skill set? I never said elway was this or that. The point with elway is that he will look for a QB in the draft & if you guys think elway & fox are against him then how is he gonna stay & start in denver? If they don’t like him & don’t think he can make it then how is he gonna make it there? What other team is gonna take him?
Nothing puts him in line to be the greatest QB ever, no fact in that bud. I don’t think tebow is a bust & just move on I’m say’n he needs a lot of work & are the broncos & other teams gonna give him that time? Hope someone does.
Since when did blind fanhood become a little known pointer anyway other than to make a fan feel better about how far off base they are when something is said they don’t like?

Have to agree with ck and Tim’s a winner as they are really factual and know that Tim will be GREAT IN THE NFL! Count me in as someone who looks forward to your inspirational posts…love to watch Tebow prove all the negative IDIOTS WRONG AND CAN’T WAIT TO SAY SO!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow. What a disaster the comments on this site are. Several seem to be made by the same writer, yammering back and forth to himself. Awesome.

Somehow pointing out Tebow played badly is akin to blaming him for all Bronco woes at all positions?
Saying you ‘like’ Tebow and want to give him a chance is one thing, trying to turn that into anyone who says he hasn’t played well is a hater, and that Tim will be great in the NFL and you can’t wait to say so, is something else entirely.
To believe he’s played well and “it’s all someone else’s fault” is simply to not know what you are looking at. And in the light of how badly he’s played, ignoring fundamental lapses like throwing yards behind an open receiver in the end zone for a 100yard pick 6, and instead simply ‘believing’ he’ll be great, is simplistic idiocy.

The greater likelihood to “greatness”, is that the Tebow experiment won’t last much longer, he will be simply released, no one will pick him up, and best case scenario he ends up a QB coach at Fla. That’s a stretch, he’ll probably be a coach at a smaller school for a while first while Fla clears the staff position for him, for all he gave them.

That Tim’s numbers are better than Elways’ points out what a mediocre player John was, statistically speaking. Last I printed out, he was in the 80′s on the list of QB ratings, with many of the last 10 years of his career at woefully unacceptable ratings by today’s standards. Ratings which Bronco fans themselves have not tolerated in any other QB.

Fact is, as Broncos fans continue to ‘look for Elway’ it’s been easy to predict years of mediocrity for the Broncos. Hopefully the mediocrity will last long enough for folks to stop looking for Elway and try instead to look for a 2000yd rusher like Terrel Davis was. In fact, in Superbowl ’97 while Elway completed only 12 of 22 passing attempts, throwing one interception and no touchdowns, Davis rushed for 157 yards and a Super Bowl–record three touchdowns to earn the Super Bowl MVP Award – all while overcoming a severe migraine headache that caused him blurred vision. Even so, somehow people now think Elway won games by himself, and anyone who moves to the Broncos fan area sees this right away.
That Denver has run off more than one Elway-record-breaking QB just in the last 5-10 years isn’t news around the rest of the league. It’s only in Denver that the QB-As-Savior-Myth is so strong.

In other words, comparisons to Elway notwithstanding, it is not a stretch to say Tebow is ever-more-likely to last less than this season as an NFL QB.
Hopefully he will improve, in fact there is no where to go but up, so I’ll say again, he now has the away games in Oakland and KC to improve on basic fundamentals before the home fans, the most QB-As-Savior-Myth focused fans in the league, turn fully on him at home against the Jets.
I guess enjoy it while you can.

  31. David Fostor says:

I was wrong when I said that none of us know the future, because it appears that Jasper does–at least as it concerns Tim Tebow. It is Tebow Haters that constantly compare Tim to John and Tebow supporters that that use facts and a sense of fairness to argue for Tim to get the same chance that John had.

No doubt it’s a different world today then it was 30 years ago when Elway came into the league. I for one don’t want another John Elway in Denver, nor do I want Tim Tebow to settle into a rhythm of always playing from behind in 4th quarter situations.

The best situation for Tim would probably have been to use in him special packages, on a very consistent basis, in short yardage and red zone situations for a couple of years as he developed in the areas he needed to.

The problem was, this organization wouldn’t use him at all, nor correctly, giving him the opportunity to actively experience the NFL game, while gaining the knowledge, preparation, and skill to become a top-tier starter.

Instead they lied about various topics using nebulous terms, mocking both Tim and the Denver Fans that wanted to see him play. John Fox couldn’t give a straight answer if his life depended on it, and it shows.

John Elway can only support his team when he gets his way, and in fact seems genuinely disappointed after the win over Miami.

The two of them plus Brian Xanders have soiled this team and the entire organization by pitting player against player, and fan against fan, by their failure to put the best product on the field every week, year, after year, after year.

So before we become so myopic and full of ourselves believing we know Tim Tebow’s future, I would just ask you to remember Kurt Warner’s story of bagging groceries to make a living before gaining another chance at an NFL career, with the right organization, the right coaches, and people and teammates that believed in him.

You never know what may happen, do you?

    • Jasper says:

Hyperbole about other players doesn’t change how Tebow has played, and only ‘supporters’ brought up Elway in this thread.
Everyone makes mistakes, but Tebow has fundamental flaws that if he does not improve upon, you don’t have to be Nostradomus to assess his likely chances with this current or another NFL team- have you not heard 98% of NFL analysts discuss this?
In his current state, it is simply MORE likely he will not be in the NFL than that he will, his flaws are too great to make it worth the effort simply ‘because he’s a good guy’ or whatever else is behind the idea not only that ‘he should get a chance’ but that this team should change everything to accommodate his style. He won’t be the first player who won the Heisman who’s style didn’t fit the NFL- are there even 2 Heisman winners doing well today?
It was entertaining when he played terrible and yet the Broncos won the game, because ‘both sides’ were “right”. But it’s no longer funny to see his ‘supporters’ claim the victory was his, but this last week however, was everyone else’s fault.
Fact is, he was revealed more fully, as clearly not ready, and with all signs pointing towards why he was the #3 QB on a ridiculously bad team, right out of preseason.

  32. jason says:

No we don’t & my point is about what he has done not what he will do. I don’t get where people are get’n the elway comparison from as the end all be all for tebow. Look at all the other young QBs & no one can say tebow is doing as well as others are.
Tebow needs a lot of work & I can’t see a team taking the time with him since so much other pro ready talent is coming to the nfl.

    • Tisa says:

If you see no future for Tebow, then why are you wasting your time on this site intended for supporters of Tebow? You fool no one. You are extremely Anti-Tebow. There are REAL NFL EXPERTS who agree with much that is said on this site. Go away!!!

      • jason says:

I’m extremely anti-bad NFL QB, big difference.
Tebow has bad fundamentals that are of him not the fault of the team, things he should already have down because plenty of college QBs already have these things down. My thought of him having no future is simple, if he keeps doing what he’s doing no team will want him as a QB. How many other QBs have had that same problem?……..many & they aren’t in the NFL anymore.
He can’t even keep the same throw’n motion or foot work from play to play. That’s on him. Find an expert that doesn’t say that. Teams aren’t gonna just let him run around & do whatever so if you guys are mad at elway & fox then be ready to be mad at all the other head coaches too. It’d be very different if he had the fundamentals down like he already should.
Every QB has a bad game at times but they still have fundamentals down. That’s not something that’s suppose to have to be taught to the QBs out of school right now. It doesn’t matter to look at elway or any QB from the old era because the game is much different now, which is something the guy who knows all the little pointers that experts don’t understand should know very well himself.
Watch him play, no expert anywhere thinks that’s close to NFL level QB play. Look at ponder, dalton & cam newton. They had no training camp & all the practise tebow had last year & they have the fundamentals down, they have & will make mistakes & learn but tebow isn’t close in the basics you build off of.
Now remember you folks are emotionaly invested in tebow, teams are not, coaches are not. They want a QB that can run the offense & run the play how its designed to be & tebow isn’t doing that.
So what happens when luck, barkley, jones, moore or 1 of the top 6 come out because tebow isn’t gonna beat them out for the starting job. Just being a winner doesn’t get you far because that doesn’t read the coverage that is required for QBs.
Tebow has started losing all trade value so why will he go? And don’t say any team he wants because that’s very far from fact.
Now ck you can come up with whatever knocks you want on me but you can’t take away what is fact about how the NFL is & what they will do & how they see things. Its very simple, why spend 3 years to hope tebow figures it out when you can get a guy who is pro ready & will have the starting job next year .

My 5 year old nephew can see tebow isn’t very good or showing any promise. You folks are taking blind faith in tebow as fact & that the people who run the teams think of tebow how you folks do & they don’t. They don’t get all caught up in what he did in college & what blind faith they have in him, they base it off what is being done on the field & the fundamentals have nothing to do with fox & elway, that’s a tebow problem that’s of his on doing. All you have to turn to is faith in him & not fact. They do with what they watch him do, find a talent scout or GM that wants tebow now if he keeps going the way he’s going & that’s his fault not everyone else, he was told he wasn’t gonna be just run’n around & doing his college thing & he chose not to get that out of his head. What should they do hire a team of coaches to tell tebow every little detail about throw’n a football & how to move his feet? …………….why bother when you can just go get a kid that already knows to do this & just needs fine tune’n.

Right about one thing though, I am waste’n my time because people just seem to miss see’n the forest for all those trees in the way. If tebow doesn’t make it then its no skin off my back cause other QBs are coming & if he does turn out great I get to see another great NFL QB, its a no lose for me cause I’m not wrapped up in tebow. You guys think the NFL thinks like fans do & they don’t, they’ll trade or cut anyone that can’t do what they ask to be done & tebow isn’t able to get it done yet. Those are the only facts that really matter because the people who hire & fire in the NFL see it like that. Real simple.

I will respectfully refrain from posting anymore cause it is a waste of time to bother. Thanks!

  33. Tisa says:

Hey Guys, did you notice that this wasn’t such a good weekend for a lot of QBs. Brees and Rivers, for example. Did you see MNF last night? Rivers made a ton of mistakes, but the Chargers, unlike the Broncos, have enough talent to at lease keep themselves in the game. There is a reason John Fox is the head coach at Denver after being fired from the last place team in the NFL. No one else would take the job! Denver chews people up and spits them out. None of their teams are doing well and the Broncos are the worst. It’s a no win situation for Tim. It’s not a place for a young QB to learn. I am just praying they have not ruined any chance he has of success in the NFL. He says he is working as hard as he can to do what they teach him to do and what they ask him to do. That is the problem. He is definitely losing his spirit and his mechanics are getting much worse. Compare his play now to the three games he started under Studesville last year. In fact, the whole team played better under Studesville. Maybe the Broncos passed on the best HC they could get when didn’t promote Studesville permanently. Love you, Tim. Keep your head up and know that we still believe in you!

    • Alan says:

Totally agree Tisa. When you see the other great QBs being rushed to complete a play in 2 seconds they go down just like Tebow. The play where they stripped the ball…the defender was in the backfield on Tebow’s blindside in less than 2 seconds. I don’t think it’s Tim’s low looping motion that causes that strip, I think that could happen to Peyton. Denver’s O-line needs to step up. Hopefully, Tim can fire them up in time for Oakland. If they rise to the occasion, we’ll see a totally different result.

  34. J L (BUZ) Buzard says:

Well maybe MR Weaver will trade for him and bring Tebow home to Jacksnville where He should been Drafted in the first place Jags have been thur 4 QB since the passed him in the 2010 draft at least Jax will sell some tickets and as someone pointed out all Tims games are well watched
    Go!! Tebow!!!

  35. ck says:

Tisa I am so happy you told MR. BUZZ KILL to create his crazy scenario somewhere else…some people are so full of themselves they think other people want to tolerate their self proclaimed delusions and it looks like he picked up another arm chair wannabe in “J”! Guess illiterate goes along with the territory b/c IF YOU CAN READ THE WEB SITE IT STATES THIS IS A SITE FOR TIM TEBOW FANS…ENOUGH ALREADY! WE BELIEVE IN YOU TIM AND EVERYBODY HAS TO START SOMEWHERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  36. Human says:

Tebow is such a big topic that any fan site is going to get trolls. Kinda just have to live with ‘em on the internet. Best advice: Don’t feed the trolls! Responding to the negative posts and trying to argue with them is exactly what the trolls want. Arguing and imagining that you are getting upset with them is the only reason trolls post comments at all. Jason said he is not a Tebow fan and he does not care if he succeeds or fails, etc etc, and others are too blind to see his arguments. That’s all classic troll stuff. If he really didn’t care he wouldn’t be here posting and checking for responses and responding. He’s taking time to post for a reason, and that reason is to try and anger the regular readers of the board. Might be best to just not read a his posts, then you aren’t tempted into a pointless argument with a troll.

Watch him post about how he’s not a troll, really! Prove he is still reading and hoping for reactions.

As for trading Tebow to Jacksonville, hehe, as a Bronco fan I would rather hope he sticks here and succeeds. I would prefer us not spend another high round draft pick on QB. But hey, I think Tebow’s stats are actually slightly better than Gabbert’s through 5 starts. Ah well! At least there aren’t people making money on TV by crying for Blaine’s head to roll. I bet his fan sites are not getting trolled either :)

    • tisa says:

@Human, I know, I was trying so hard not to respond to him but I just couldn’t help myself. As Tim’s fans, we have to listen to so much vitriol about him that we depend on this Tebbow FAN site to talk to like minded people. The reason why Tebow’s Eye Black does not take comments is because they don’t want to give a venue to the “trolls.”

      • ck says:

@Human: Case in point…all talk and no action is why he (the troll aka Jason) will never measure up b/c like I said Tebow’s actions consistently match what he states…obviously all of his awards and etc. back it up!!! Thanks for trying to enlighten on the subject as it fits perfectly in spite of the troll stating otherwise!!!! Like to see the troll try to attempt 1/4 of what Tebow has already done in his lifetime and he is only in his early 20′s!!!

      • ck says:

tisa: Also, huge thanks for running off the troll!! And, yes, it is nice to have a site to go to that supports Tim and encourages his fans too! Not always easy to ignore, but like my spouse states: “Don’t feed the fire!” Sometimes easier said than done as I, for one, like you will continue to defend Tebow against the negativity that is not in any way justified given all the obstacles he has had to overcome!

  37. David Fostor says:

On the list of worst jobs you could possibly have, would be ‘QB of the Denver Broncos’. Think about it; ever since Elway retired, this organization has treated one QB after another like s**t.

Jake Plummer, Jay Cutler, Tim Tebow, Brady Quinn, heck, even Kyle got set up for failure by the deceptive John Fox. They spent the entire pre-season talking Kyle up like he was the second coming, when they knew he couldn’t live up to that standard.

I’m with Human, I hope Tim has a terrific career here in Denver, but with the way the organization, and the media trolls treat him, he may be better off somewhere else.

My perfect scenario would be that he becomes so good here that he helps us get way of Elway, Fox, Xanders, and the entire ‘troll community’.

My 12 year old son thinks Studesville and Tim had the kind of relationship that a head coach and starting QB should have. I think the kid has a point. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a coach so reluctant to praise his players as Fox is.

How did we end up with this guy? Oh that’s right, we live in Denver.

    • ck says:

Yea, they literally dug the bottom of the barrel in coaches when they found Fox!! Makes one wonder what Elway was thinking hiring the coach of the worst team in the NFL!! (Guess he wanted a shot at the #1 draft only Tebow is upsetting his plans and hope Tim wins every game possible, showing them all!!!) He should retire, really!! Agree with your son too…Kudos!!!

  38. David Fostor says:

    Hey fellow fans,
the Tebow / Elway first 5 games comparisons are running rampant here in Denver, and as we all know Tim comes out on top in that comparison. One fact that I hadn’t considered before a facebook rant tonight was that John Elway had the stability of 1 head coach for his first 11 years in the NFL. Tim has had 3 in 1 1/2 seasons. If for no other reason then to shut these people up, I hope Tim finds his groove and gives the best performance of his life this weekend.
