Tebow 3rd String as Broncos Beat Bills

Tim Tebow was demoted to 3rd string in last night’s game against the Bills. It seems pretty clear that the Broncos coaching staff and executives are not fans of Tim’s game. If Tebow is relegated to third string duty in the 3rd and 4th preseason games then I would assume it will be like that all season (unless Orton or Quinn get injured). Then we’ll see Tim get cut or traded after the 2011 season. No team is going to keep a 1st round draft pick third on the depth chart.

Such a strange turn of events the past few weeks — Tim was a blink of an eye away from being the starter, and now he could get cut. It’s a crazy game! I guess Tim was bumped down because he’s been struggling a lot in practice with his accuracy and decision making.

Orton started and played almost through the first half… his stats look good but most of his yardage came on RB screens and dump offs. Quinn came in there before halftime and threw an interception. Quinn played into the 4th quarter and then it was Tim’s turn. Tebow was 1/2 for 10 yards and rushed the ball one time for 7 yards. He hardly had a chance to prove anything. I think this is just a sign that the Broncos coaches have made up their mind on Tim.

Maybe it was only temporary? Maybe Tim will be back at #2 next week?

i really hope he gets traded denver sucks they will never be good

What a boring game. One has to wonder how much of this has to do with Elway protecting his own place in Broncos history. Tim threw two very nice passes, one went right through the receivers hands. And the demotion could not have been due to his game playing, he was #1 among all 6 QB’s in the Dallas game last week. As a Tebow fan, I hope he gets his chance in Denver, or somewhere else–hopefully a division rival. Tim Tebow as an Oakland Raider? A Kansas City Chief? Who knows? Surely a Florida team could remember his unique and unmistakable talents and find a way to make him an integral part of their team. I don’t want him to leave Denver, but he’s proven he deserves a real shot with an NFL team. Brady looked bad last night, unlike last week. He put the ball in the defenses hands 4 times. Fortunately for Denver, Buffalo is a rotten team. And Brandon Lloyd helped inflate Kyle’s numbers again, with leaping, behind the back catches. I fear Tim will grow increasingly frustrated as I have with the Broncos and their deplorable management. This kind of decision making doesn’t bode well for the real season where the competition will get much more difficult.

Given how the Broncos are treating Tebow, I’d like to see him traded, though I’m not aware of any team that is actually wanting his type of game. He’d be quite a good fit in Jacksonville, I think, if they would try him. del Rio has gone a decade with a tenatious (sp) defense and very little innovation on offense. Tebow could be the X-factor that would get them over the hump.

The Broncos early schedule is an easy one, so, with an improved defense and decent play by Orton they could go 3-1. I’m still very disappointed they do not appear to recognize what they have in Tim. If played right, he was poised to score 50 rushing touchdowns in his first 5 seasons, not to mention passing.

  4. Alan says:

Not to worry guys. This is only the preseason. Tim has too many weapons to ignore. He’s a big time player who will rise the occasion. When the RedZone blues hit the other guys, Tim will step up.

  5. Ben says:

Total football ignorance here. If everyone believed you guys, the Broncos would never lose another game ever with Timmy boy starting. He has earned his third string spot becAuse of the chaos he creates on the field. He won’t run the play that’s called and ad libs. Coaches and teammates hate that. Unlike Tebow, Brady Quinn (btw a first rounder who Had artificially been kept on third string) has been playing like a possessed man in camp and has shown he has the accuracy to be an NFL quarterback. The window into which a ball must be thrown in modern NFL football is tiny, and tebow doesn’t have the accuracy.

what are the denver bronos doing they have not given tim tewbo afair shot at being the quarterback what are they doing ihope he is traded where he can be appreciated for what will be able to do the denver bronos are going to be very sorry one day for not uusung hiM

  7. kim says:

will be a hallfamer one day if would they would give the opportunity like maybe a whole game

  8. Ben says:

What do you mean not given a chance? He has been getting special consideration over the past two years. If anything , Denver hasn’t given Quinn a fair chance. Btw, I am not a Quinn fan but he deserves a shot

  9. Pastor Buddy says:

Denver Broncos sound like a bi-polar organization. All I know is Tebow is an NFL role model for young kids. I also know the last two or three games of last season he excelled especially for fantasy players that started him (I did). I also know his stats in the first pre-season game were better than Orton’s or Quinn’s. As just a fan and observer I have to ask the question is his overt Christianity offensive to people in power? Just asking!

  10. David Fostor says:

They all deserve ‘a shot’ which should include practicing with the first team offense, starting with the first team offense, and playing with the first team offense. Denver has had no QB competition whatsoever. And to all those who continually praise Quinn for his performance, you should be truthful enough to admit that he hasn’t really performed like an NFL starter…at all. In fact, Quinn is much like Orton in that he’s a very one dimensional QB. If the Broncos are successful in building a great running game, they may get away with Orton or Quinn at the helm for a while. But the running game would have to be awesome, and nothing like we’ve seen so far this year. The Broncos schedule is fairly easy, at least at the beginning of the season, but unless the coaching gets much better, and the number of real play-makers improves dramatically, this looks like a average to below average team. I say, give Tebow a real chance to do something great in Denver. I believe he will deliver.

I think you hit the nail on the head Pastor!

  12. Gerry says:

    Hi

Put Tim in training a week with the same offensive team that he will play with and let them work together and HE (TIM) will make things happen for Denver. He is a leader and once the same team he works with get to know him and how he plays it will be a win, win situation for the team and the coaches.

He can’t play part time and make things work, in other words he is a stranger to the offensive group he has to work with.

God Bless Tim and I hope to see him playing real soon.

  13. jim says:

tim needs alot of improvement yes, but he got better the last three games he played… i wish they would trade him so he can have a full chance i dont think his faith is an issue here its elways ego! fox is a boring coach so orton fits his plan i think tim should be praying for a trade because third string on that team means you been blackballed…

  14. Lee says:

The real issue here is John Elway is a Freemason, this is public info even though it is not covered in the media. For those of you who do not know what the Freemasons are about google it and do some research. I have been fooled about Elway’s BS he gives the media concerning Tebow. Elway is lying (that is what freemasons do alot) telling the fans about the QB competition. A Freemason is never going to let a outspoken Christian be succesful. End of Story!!! By the way I burned all of my Elway memorabilia last in my fire place. I Am a Die Hard Bronco Fan for 50 plus years and it ended last nite I am going to be a Houston Texan Fan until Bowlen pulls is head out you know what and fires the ao called alcoholic ex-superstar. Elway and Fox are destroying the foundation of the franchise, News Flash tonite in Denver a grassroots movement of Bronco haters is growing in epic fashion. It is almost sad to think about it but right now I hope this franchise falls to the bottom of the NFL. All fans of the Denver Broncos should investigate what Freemason Elway is really all about and decide if he really should have their support I know I will not support this guy.

  15. Theo says:

I have grown weary of the disgusting double standard Tim Tebow has been subjected to. The ESPN “experts” continually blast him yet use him as a story line every time the can. It seems the same is happening with the Broncos. How accurate do you have to be to be an accurate passer. Look at Tim’s stats every time he’s been given a chance to play. If he’s not accurate enough how does he get the job done time after time? If he scrambles and decides to run he’s criticized because that’s “what he knows”. If Vick does the same thing he’s praised as a “do all” miracle man. I actually heard one of the NFL network commentators blame Tim for the Dallas player getting hurt when Tim scrambled and then complete a pass at the end of the play. The next day instead of showing the long pass for a huge gain, ESPN showed the scramble and talked about how stupid Tim was. I’m saying all this to say it just seems no matter which way he turns it’s suddenly the wrong way. It really bugs me to see one of the best athletes to ever play the game not to mention the best role model in sports, get slammed to the point that it’s obviously starting to get into his head. I will forever be a Tebow fan and my prayer is that he’s able to shake off all the negative talk and be the incredible leader athlete he could be.

  16. thanks !I think you hit the nail on the head Pastor!

  17. Ben says:

The comparison to Vick is way off base. Vick was at best an average qb until he learned to stay in the pocket and make use of An excellent throwing arm.in today’s game, you need to hit a receiver at a specific body part on the run , not just in his general vicinity. Vick has that accuracy and excellent throwing mechanics, Tebow doesn’t. The very fact that Elway hasn’t warmed up to him speaks volumes. He has seen his throwing mechanics up close as well as his decision making. The other day at camP, ElwAy himself had to spend extra time with Tim on his footwork and throwing motion, something that Tebow should have learned before high school. The bottom line is, even Tebow himself would agree that the best man should start.

  18. Brett says:

He’s 3rd string b/c he sux. Guess Jesus didnt want him as a starter!

  19. Ben says:

Don’t forget that Brady Quinn is a very devout Catholic. God is on his side too. Did you see how he looked up and pointed towards the sky when he threw that touchdown the other night? Tebow and Tebownation just talk about it a lot more. Some of us believe that our relationship with God is best kept inside ourselves where it belongs.

  20. Brett says:

    Ben
Totally Agree. My point exactly. The in your face stuff is such a turn off to the public AND to the Broncos players and higher ups! Infact, many of the players jokingly refer to Tebow as “Mr. Jesus”. Those who are the most devout honorable human beings, dont need to proselytize.

  21. Mitchell Butler says:

Aside from all the usual controversial stuff that comes up with Tebow….I had a chance to get to training camp and see him. He didn’t look all that good, honestly. The giant gallery of people were rooting him on for every little thing he did right…but when compared to Orton/Brady- he was well behind both of them decision-wise and accuracy-wise. He has a much bigger upside than either of them- but the reality is he has a ways to go, and these coaches are playing for their jobs too; just a few weeks ago they were ready to hand over the reigns at any sign Tebow was ready to go. He’s not, and here we are. I’m guessing he’ll ride the bench most of the year then be traded in the off season.

  22. Carl says:

As for Timbow news, it seems like one day he’s the starter, next, he’s not, and now with him supposedly being number 3, leads me wonder what the heck the staff has been doing since Tebow has arrived. They got a hard worker, and most of the other teams try to build there team around there quarterback.
Other crictics say he didn’t look good, by playing at the end of the game, how can you. Out the 3 they have now, I would in in this tuff situatiion, would go with Tebow.

  23. Sage says:

Lee, I totally enjoyed your post. Food for thought. Thanks.

  24. Bill says:

At the beginning of training camp, the starting QB job was Tebow’s to lose. It’s pretty obvious that he did, in fact, lose it.

  25. ben says:

Fact is, while Tebow was out filming commercials, giving motivational speeches and writing a book, Orton and Quinn were putting in a lot of time here in Denver improving their games. Tim was simply too distracted by the hype and if anything, his technique has been regressing. He needs to rededicate himself to football if he is to have any shot at being an NFL quarterback.

  26. ck says:

    DENVER’S LOSS SOMEBODY ELSES GAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HE NEVER GIVES LESS THAN 110% AND BEATS THE ODDS THAT IS WHY HE HAS SUCH A HUGE/LOYAL FAN BASE!!! PLUS THE MOTTO: “HARD WORK BEATS TALENT WHEN TALENT DOESN’T WORK HARD”!!!!!
    GBX2/TEBOW/GATORS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  27. ck says:

    GO TEBOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  28. moncler says:

I think that if we wanted to try. Del Rio has had a decade with an innovation tenatious (SP) of the defense and very little in attack.

  29. Nunya Bidniss says:

I guess Tim was bumped down because he’s been struggling a lot in practice with his accuracy and decision making.

What else is there for a quarterback?

    He’s just NOT that good.

  30. Nunya Bidniss says:

Ben is right. Tim is all about Tim, not all about the TEAM.

He gets what he deserves. The bench.

  31. ck says:

TEBOW WILL OUTLAST ALL THE NO NOTHING NAYSAYERS…SUCCESS WILL BE COMING HIS WAY NO MATTER WHAT B/C HE HAS MORE THAN ENOUGH DETERMINATION TO SEE IT THROUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    GO TEBOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  32. Matt says:

I was not happy when the Broncos picked up Tebow but I don’t understand how anyone can say Tebow isn’t a good quarterback. Look what he’s done for the Gators and hopefully what he will do, given the chance, as a Bronco. Yes he needed some work and the best way to get that work is to actually play in some games. Look what he did against the Chargers last night… Tim comes in down 26-10 and rallies the Broncos back with 2 touchdowns to make the game 26-24. He definitely shows a lot of talent and it’s obviously a controversial situation whether he is ready yet but neither Orton or Quinn have done anything for this offense. It’s time to give Tebow the reigns and see where he leads the Broncos!
