Kyle Orton To Be Traded?

ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter told Mike & Mike this morning to look for Kyle Orton to be traded in the next few days. That means the Tim Tebow era in Denver could be starting a little early.

I would have thought the Broncos would go into camp with Orton and Tebow battling it out, but maybe they’re ready to hand Tim the reigns.

Timmy was the first Bronco in the building this morning. Orton could be gone by tomorrow.

This completely surprised me when I heard this news. I was sitting down on my couch watching Sportscenter when I heard about John Fox tweeting that they were going to shop Kyle Orton. I sat up with wide eyes. I was absolutely stunned. Kyle Orton only has one more year on his contract if what I’ve heard is correct. If that’s true, I don’t see why the Broncos don’t just let him play for the remainder of his contract! But, this is Tebow Zone, and I wouldn’t be here if I wasn’t a huge Tim Tebow fanatic. I just discussed why it wouldn’t make sense, but now let me give my explanation of how it does make sense. In the 2010 NFL Draft, the Denver Broncos had the 25th overall selection of the whole draft. For a lot of teams, if you are going to spend a first round draft pick, then you are usually going to start the person that you pick. They spent that draft pick on Tim Tebow, the person that we all know and love. I spent a huge majority of his first season on the bench. Watching Kyle Orton go out on the field and play. Josh McDaniels took Orton out and let Tebow play the final three games. He got the one win, and finished the year off with a 82 passer rating. I was pretty content at the end of the year. It made a lot of sense to me that the Broncos just weren’t ready to take a chance with Tim. I spent the whole offseason following the NFL Lockout news. When I heard that it was lifted, you can bet that I was excited. Then this information popped up. It makes sense, because when you look back to the 2010 season, the one thing that I can say about Kyle Orton is, “Really?” 4-12…. not his best year. Now, Kyle only has one year left on his contract. When Kyle heard that John Fox was thinking of benching him and playing Tebow, Orton made it clear that if he was going to be a Bronco, he didn’t want to spend the final year of his contract sitting on the bench. So basically what Kyle Orton is saying, “Play me as the starter, or I….Want….Out. So, the Broncos listened to him, and they said, “We used a first round pick on Tebow. Your last year wasn’t successful. We want to give the ball to Tim and see what he can do. If you want out if you can’t start, then that’s fine with us. We will throw you out on the market.” That’s my opinion on the matter. Now while I’m writing this, it is 9:47 P.M. my time out here on the west coast. I have literally only watched NFL Network, and ESPN, all day. Just to see how on earth this plays out. I have listened to more about Mike Vick, Brett Favre, and the Jets cornerback problems, then I ever would have wanted to, but I put up with it all day, just to see if anything happens. The news at the beginning of the days was, “Kyle Orton might be traded to the Miami Dolphins…we will give further news as the story develops.” The story at 10:00 at night here is, “Kyle Orton might be traded to the Miami Dolphins…we will give further news as the story develops.” I just want Kyle to be traded. He is a great QB, and he will make another team, (probably the Dolphins) very happy. But the Broncos spent a pick on Tebow high up in the draft, so I say, “Get him out there on the field. He’s a leader. Let’s see what he can do.”

The Denver Broncos would be the dumbest crowd pleasing team ever if they got rid of Kyle Orton. Kyle Orton is just flat out better than Tim Tebow. Hell I’m actually hoping Denver gives Brady Quinn the second string QB position. I think Brady Quinn is actually better than Tim Tebow. Tim Tebow is 2nd string QB at best, and I seriously think he should be 3rd string behind Brady Quinn… Maybe Tim Tebow should be the one to go to Miami. I think he could actually compete for Chad Hennes job!!!
