Tebow Shows Up at Camp Dawkins

With the NFL players still locked out, they were left up to themselves to organize workouts and practices. Tim Tebow is back in Denver right now working out at a team practice organized by safety Brian Dawkins (who is also from Jacksonville, FL). It’s a voluntary workout, but by participating he is showing his commitment to the team.

Tim threw passes to receiver Britt Davis and tight end Dan Gronkowski, and took snaps under center from starting center J.D. Walton. Only 13 players were there for the practice – Tim was the only QB and the starting receivers Brandon Lloyd and Eddie Royal were not in attendance.

“I always try to find the positives in anything that’s going on, and that’s definitely one of the positives during this lockout time is that some guys are going to work harder than others, and hopefully I’m one of those guys working extremely hard, and I believe I am,” Tebow said. “This is an opportunity to gain ground on, not necessarily teams, but players because it’s an opportunity to get better.”

Tim did miss practice last week while he was in Jacksonville for his charity golf tournament, but he understands the importance of practicing with the team. If Tim wants to be the starting QB in 2011, he needs to work harder than any QB on the team.

“This part is more important to show that we’re all together. I know a lot of us have been throwing and catching and doing what we need to do other places, but I think this is big, just to show that we’re together,” Tebow said. “You can come together a few times to show, ‘Hey, we’ve got each other’s backs.’”

The sports writers for the Denver Post seem to be pitting Tebow against Orton based on who shows up at these practices. This could make matters worse on the team if Orton remains. These guys, at least for now, are on the same team. The team could end up with a Tebow faction and an Orton faction. They don’t mention what Tim is doing away from Denver. It is probably detrimental to Tim’s progress to be away from what he schedules on his own. Hour and a half practices in no way compare to his 7 to 8 hour days. Go Timmy, win the starting QB spot!GB2
