Elway Named Chief Football Executive of the Broncos

Yesterday we mentioned that John Elway was going to to be named the Chief Football Executive of the Denver Broncos. Well, that’s exactly what happened in the afternoon. During his press conference he addresses Tim Tebow and his development with the Broncos. Ultimately, it will be Elway’s decision on which players stay, which ones are cut and who is traded.

“We all agree on one thing: Tim Tebow is a darn good football player,” Elway said. “What we have to make him is a darn good quarterback, and that is what we have to figure out.”

Elway’s said he has watched the film on Tebow – so he’s been able to analyze each play and pass Tim has made. He said Tim look “very raw” and some of his fundamentals in the pocket are iffy, but really … how many rookie quarterbacks come into the league as a polished QB? It takes everyone time — Tim has only had 3 games so far.

“Those are the things that he has to get a lot better at,” Elway said. “He’s got the intangibles. He’s going to make the plays that you can’t coach, as he did against Houston. He’s going to make those plays, but he’s got to be able to, for us to win a championship, he’s got those intangibles, but he’s got to win it from within the pocket.”
