I need to figure out a new plan for my Thursday posts. I originally had planned on doing a fantasy football preview/prediction type of post every Thursday — but that was back in preseason when I thought Tim Tebow would be seeing some game action. Who would have thought Kyle Orton would be playing like a Pro Bowler? With Tim relegated to third string duty … it’s really pointless to talk about Fantasy Football. He’s probably not owned on any team unless you’re in a dynasty league and he’s certainly not getting your any points right now.
So until Tim starts playing more, I’m going to just turn Thursday posts into a general Tebow News type of post. We’ll still bring you the game previews on Friday, even if he’s not expected to play. In this league you are always one play away from being on the field.
So for general Tebow news, let’s try this:
KFFL had a blurb about Tim Tebow and whether or not the Broncos will use him as a short-yardage back. With Knowshon Moreno being banged up the past few weeks, the Broncos have really struggled to run the ball.
Denver Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels said QB Tim Tebow will not be used as a short-yardage running back despite the team’s struggles in the running game, according to Lindsay H. Jones, of The Denver Post. “We’re not going to do that in short yardage,” McDaniels said. “People who mention that, I don’t know, that’s ridiculous.” The Broncos haven’t discarded the “Tebow Package” pages from their playbook, but McDaniels appears to have no plans to use Tebow in place of a tailback.
So it appears (and probably for the best) that the Broncos will continue to groom Tim to be the quarterback of the future. That means not trotting him out there to run like a fullback on short yardage situations.
