Tim Tebow Plays vs. The Steelers

After everyone was speculating all week that Tim Tebow would sit out week three of the preseason, he hit the practice field late in the week and was ready for game action last night vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers on national television. Tim entered the game in the middle of the third quarter and finished 5/10 for 72 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

In his first series, Tim made a nice 14 yard pass to Brandon Lloyd but followed it up with a bad pass to Eddie Royal – a completion here would have picked up the first down. During his second series on the field Tim completed passes of 12 yards and 19 yards … it still looks like his throwing motion is a little funky but there was definitely some zip on his passes.

Later in the game Tim threw an interception that was almost returned for a touchdown — it’s hard for us to tell if it was a bad throw or if the receiver curled the wrong way. A couple plays later in the next series Tim hooked up with Eric Decker for a touchdown.

Overall Tim Tebow looked pretty good for still being a little banged up and missing a bunch of practices. He took some snaps from under center and hit some receivers with good throws over the middle. I like what I saw and am still confident Tim will be your #2 QB on opening day.

If you missed the game, here are Tim’s highlights.

Unfortunately, missed the game; however, was able to catch the highlights on this web site. Your great coverage of the game was much appreciated. From what I saw, Tebow nailed it and now has a win to celebrate too! Way to go Tim…you have a very bright future in the NFL and Coach McDaniels is to be congratulated also!!
    GO BRONCOS/TEBOW/GATORS!! CK :)

I was fortunate enough to travel from Jax to Denver for this game. I thought overall Tim looked great. I know he’s got a ways to go but he has tons more command of the offense than Quinn does. I have to say I loved seeing all the Tebow love and jerseys in Denver! Go Broncos!

He looked alright. Don’t forget he’s been playing vs 3rd and 4th string players during the pre-season, some of guys he’s been playing both with and against won’t even make NFL roster spots and will try their hand in the UFL.

That being said, I think it became clear what’s going to happen to the Denver QB situation this season. They will dress all 3 QBs, Orton will undoubtedly start, he won’t relinquish that starting job unless he’s injured. Tebow will be listed as 2nd string so he can go in and run the “wild horse” or any other short yardage packages they may have for him. Brady Quinn will be listed as 3rd on the depth chart but will go in and play for Orton if he gets injured.
