David | Tell us what you think: Woody Paige of the Denver Post – known as a controversial sports writer – struck up a conversation with Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels on Friday afternoon. Paige asked McDaniels if Tim Tebow had a chance to be the Broncos starter in 2011 and the response was – “Yes.” Here’s how Paige describes the conversation:
I asked McDaniels on Friday afternoon: “Does Brady Quinn (entering his fourth NFL season and first with the Broncos) have a legitimate chance to be Broncos’ opening-Sunday starter?” The coach replied: “Yes.”
Then I asked if Tim Tebow, the rookie first-round draft choice, has a chance to become the starter. The answer was the same. “Yes.”
It’s obvious Orton, currently No. 1, has a chance.
McDaniels is now an equal opportunity employer.
When I see this I’m reminded of a scene from Dumb and Dumber when Lloyd asks Mary “What do you think the chances are of a guy like you and a girl like me… ending up together?” Her response is something like “one in a million” and Lloyd of course says “So you’re saying there’s a chance.”
There’s always a chance Tim Tebow could be the starter on opening day. Orton could blow out his knee in preseason and Brady Quinn could get the flu. We never know what’s going to happen, but in all likely hood Tim Tebow won’t be starting right away. Tim is the Broncos quarterback of the future, but needs more time to learn the system and take in what it means to be an NFL player. But let this be known, if Tebow somehow does get put into the fire against the Jaguars for the first game of the year… he will be ready, and he will do everything he can to win.

He will live up to his expectations…. Coach McD knows it and so does the big 1-5. Orton will definately be first choice to start out the season but its only a matter of time before Tebow ERUPTS.
