Expect Tebow to Play Early

It’s traditional for a team who drafts a developmental quarterback to sit him on the bench for 1-2 years and let the player hone his skills, work on technique, and learn the game from the sideline until he is ready. All the “experts”said Tim Tebow would be a project in the NFL and it would take years before he would be ready to play. Well, Denver Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels might see things a little bit different. Check out what he recently told the Denver Post:

“To me, (Tebow’s acumen) gives him an advantage, an opportunity to play earlier than other people have played. Everybody keeps talking about it will be two, three years before he can play, and I think they don’t know this guy. His mental capacity, and the way that he works, and the fact that he’s on such a fast pace, will give him the chance to compete apples-to-apples.

“It’s all going to be about his production and performance. There are a lot of rookies who can’t run plays because they can’t figure it out yet. That’s not going to be the case with Tim. He’ll be able to do the things (veterans) do.”

I’m going to say it right now: Tim Tebow will play on opening day.

The Denver Broncos are headed to Jacksonville to play the Jaguars for their first game of the year. There is going to be a lot of emotions flying around for this game – being that Jacksonville is Tim’s hometown and a vast majority of Jaguars fans wanted Tim on their team. It’s going to be a sell out game with a playoff-like atmosphere. There’s no was McDaniels doesn’t run Tim out there for a few special plays.

I mean check out his scrambling ability:
