Tebow Impresses Coaches

Tim Tebow has been a busy man as he prepares himself for the upcoming NFL Draft. Tim has been flying from city to city, meeting with coaches, executives and even Hall of Fame players. Let’s take a quick look at where he’s been what what people are saying about him.

Last week, Tim flew up to Buffalo for a meeting with the Bills. While in Buffalo, he actually ate dinner with Bills quarterback legend Jim Kelly. Kelly reported loved his meeting with Tim – I don’t know how much weight Kelly throws around in the organization since he is not employed by the team, but it can’t help. Tim also met with head coach Chan Gailey.

“I think it’s obvious to everyone he’s a an engaging young man,” Gailey said today. “He’s an intelligent football player and I really enjoyed the short time I had with him talking about football, talking about life, and just what he’s all about. You can see why he was an excellent leader at the University of Florida and I think he’s well ahead of a lot of people and headed toward a good career in the NFL.”

When asked about Tebow’s revamped mechanics, Gailey said, “He made drastic improvement from where he was in college career to where he was for his individual pro day (two weeks ago). He made good progress. Whether that sticks when there’s bodies flying around you in the heat of the battle, I don’t know. There’s a lot of reps between doing it on the pro day when no one’s running around trying to hit you and then when the bullets are starting to fly.”

The next stop on Tim’s visit to the Northeast was in Boston with the New England Patriots. Some people think this meeting was more of a smokescreen or done as a favor because Belichick and Meyer are close friends – but I think the Pats have genuine interest in Tim.

“My sense of Tim Tebow is, if you asked him to play nose (tackle), he’d play nose,” Belichick said. “He’s that type of kid. I don’t know what a team would do with him, but I think he’s a really interesting player.”

When asked about Tim’s throwing motion, Belichick replied:

“Tiger Woods has rebuilt his golf swing twice. Every quarterback I’ve ever had or coached has worked on his mechanics and improved them. Phil Simms, certainly (Jeff) Hostetler, (Tom) Brady, I can’t think of too many that haven’t. It’s part of every player’s development,” Belichick said. “I mean, show me a player who comes into this league at 21 and is a finished product at any position. Show me one guy. They all need work. They all have things they need to work on… I don’t think that’s unusual.”

Next week, Tebow will be visiting with the Washington Redskins – again. He’s already met with them 3 times only this time it will take place in Ashburn, Virginia near the home of the Redskins. We’ll be sure to fill you in on how that meeting goes.
