Have you seen the headlines lately? Sporting sites are reporting Tim Tebow‘s posse mistakenly stole Darrell Waltrip’s car – Waltrip is a famous NASCAR driver. It all came about when Waltrip tweeted this on Monday:

@AllWaltrip:Tim Tebow took my car last night , problem is I didn’t tell him he could , he took it by mistake , its 3 o’clock and he hasn’t returned it !

Crazy huh? We all know that Tim Tebow would never steal a car, or would anyone in his posse (and I don’t know why articles are saying Tim has a “posse”… he was with his brother and agent). One, it’s not in his character and two, Tim can afford his own car LOL. According to Yahoo Sports here’s how it went down.

Waltrip had left his black Lexus SUV parked at a private Nashville airport while covering last weekend’s race in Las Vegas for Fox. Waltrip, apparently unfamiliar with the concept that someone might actually steal his car — carjackings are rare on NASCAR tracks — actually left his key in the car and left the doors unlocked.

Enter Tebow, his brother, one of his agents and the head of a Nashville-area training facility, D1 Sports. On Sunday night, Tebow and his associates were returning from the NFL combine. D1 CEO Will Bartholomew was told to drive Tebow’s agent’s car — a black Mercedes — back to D1′s facility while Tebow and the rest of the crew rode in another car. Well, it was dark, the Mercedes just happened to be parked next to Waltrip’s Lexus, one thing led to another, and there was no car when Waltrip got back to the airport later Sunday evening.

Everything has been sorted out now and no harm was done. Apparently Waltrip wanted to report the car stolen (as a prank), but his wife talked him out of it. And most reports actually say Tim never was in the car, so not sure he would have got in trouble if it was reported stolen.
