Yahoo Ranks Tim 4th Most Likely to Succeed

Yahoo Sports just posted an article titled “Combine Watch” – where they list their top 5 QBs most likely to succeed in the NFL. At this point, it doesn’t come as a surprise to see Tim Tebow ranked 4th among quarterback going into the Draft. But really, your draft position isn’t what guarantees you success in the NFL. Matt Stafford was the first QB taken in the 2009 Draft, but now he has to play for the Lions and may never have a winning season. Mark Sanchez on the other hand was ranked 2nd and he made it all the way to the AFC Championship Game.

Yahoo ranked them out:
1. Sam Bradford
2. Jimmy Clausen
3. Colt McCoy
4. Tim Tebow
5. Tony Pike

Here is what they had to say about Tim.

Tim Tebow (Florida): No draft prospect causes more division among scouts, analysts and columnists than Tebow. There are those who believe that if the NFL can’t find a place for him, it’s the NFL’s problem. And there are those who believe that Tebow will never make it in the NFL as a quarterback. His experience in option offenses and super-slow delivery are precedents which seem to relegate him to the NFL scrap heap as a quarterback, but his intangibles have some willing to take draft chances they probably shouldn’t. No player will benefit more from a great session on the turf of Lucas Oil Stadium — if Tebow shows a buggy-whip release and an ability to zing 30-yard post-corner routes, he’ll have a lot of draft boards scrambling. Still, he’d probably be wise to catch passes with the tight end group as well…

Their rankings seem to be pretty dead on with every other web site – unless you’re looking at something from Todd McShay… he probably doesn’t have Tim Tebow even being drafted.

LOL. Ironically, I just saw an ESPN segment this morning in which Kiper & McShay discussed their Top 5 QB’s going into the draft. Predictably, they both had Tebow at 5th.

I understand about Tebow’s mechanics issues making him 5th. The part of these lists that makes no sense to me is Bradford being 1st. He only played about 2 1/2 yrs in college. He’s coming off a double-injury which resulted in surgery & which suggests that he might not know how to fall properly when being tackled. Yet ALL the ‘experts’ choose him over a senior QB w/the most wins in college football history, Colt McCoy? And they all even put junior, non-BCS contender Jimmy Claussen above McCoy? If someone understands this, please explain it.

Ironically, Tim was considered the 4th best quarterback of the 2006 signing class – it can certainly be argued that he was the most successful on the field.
