Early reports out of Mobile, Alabama are saying that Tim Tebow struggled on his first day of Senior Bowl practice. I wasn’t sure if I could believe it, but after watching a video from NFL.com that showcases Tim’s struggles I can’t deny it. He didn’t look good. We really want Tim to succeed so it’s hard writing negative comments about his ability on the field.
One of the ares of concern for Tim is that he didn’t take snaps from under center while in college. In the video from NFL.com they show him fumble a snap from under the center. Now, maybe that was his only fumble of the day – I don’t know, but it’s not going to help his case.
I can’t embed the video on this site, so you’ll have to watch it here.
NFL.com says after Day 1 of practice Tim’s stock is going down.
Tim Tebow, Florida, QB
The most scrutinized prospect at the Senior Bowl struggled throughout his first day. Tebow repeatedly dropped snaps, and had a tough time hitting open receivers. While it is apparent that he has been attempting to work on his unorthodox delivery, his elongated wind up and tendency to pat the ball before releasing, clearly impact his accuracy. Given the huge disparity of opinions regarding his draft status, Tebow must quickly rectify his issues to prevent his stock from plummeting this week.
Tim still has a full week left of practice plus the game on Saturday to show NFL Scouts he has what it takes to be a NFL quarterback. Tim has great accuracy on short and downfield passes, he’ll just need to keep working on taking snaps and getting the ball out quickly.
Here’s a video of Tebow throwing some passes during the first day of practice.
Tim did fumble the ball a few times yesterday, but he was better today. And he’s also very sick. He had to go to the hospital last night, b/c he has strep throat & his temp was either 103 or 103.5 (I’ve seen both numbers).
Also, Tim was interviewed on NFL Network’s Path to the Draft show tonight. For anyone who missed it, that show re-airs late-night/early morning. I just looked at the NFL site & the interview’s there, too.
