Tim Tebow: Focus on the Family Commercial

Over the next few months we will see Tim Tebow in a lot of commercials and endorsing a lot of new products. Rookie athletes do this to put their name out there and show NFL Football teams that they can be good promoters of the team and be active outside of football. Tim has been a pro-life activist for as long as any of us can remember, so it’s to know surprise that one of the first deals he signed was to create a 30 second ad for Focus on the Family that will air during the Super Bowl.

The Super Bowl ad would be costly — as a spot during the game and three 30-second commercials before it would reportedly run about $2-3 million — but provides a unique exposure to a large national and international audience.

“Tim and Pam share our respect for life and our passion for helping families thrive,” Daly said. “Focus on the Family is about … strengthening families by empowering them with the tools they need to live lives rooted in morals and values.”

In the past, the NFL hasn’t really gone for these type of commercials. But Tim Tebow has a unique story and I think Focus on the Family wants to share it with the world. Tebow wasn’t born in America… he was actually born in the Philippines. The Gainesville Sun reports:

Pam Tebow entered into a coma after she contracted amoebic dysentery, an infection of the intestine caused by a parasite found in a contaminated food or drink.

The treatment for the medical condition would require strong medications that doctors told Pam had caused irreversible damage to Tim — so they advised her to have an abortion.

As the Sun reported, Pam Tebow refused the abortion and cited her Christian faith as the reason for her hope that her son would be born without the devastating disabilities physicians predicted.

Pam ultimately spent the last two months of her pregnancy in bed and, eventually, gave birth to a health baby boy in August 1987.

And the rest is history – Tim Tebow became arguably the greatest college football player ever and one heck of a human being. It’s my guess the Super Bowl ad will feature the story of his birth. Check back her after the game and we’ll have a video of the commercial posted.

All well and good; but it would be nice if James Dobson and crew weren’t so disturbingly linked with homophobic activities, fomenting misunderstanding and hate around the world. This is a shame, and extremely unChristian. What would Jesus do? Certainly not what Focus On the Family does in certain quarters…

Tim Tebow. Thank you for your Christian testimony and your courage to stand up for Jesus in a world that hates Him. Thank you for your commitment for Focus For the Family. Our church is praying for you and that God will use you in many ways. Our church is PICF, in Lakeland, at First Baptist Church at the Mall. We are a Filipino fellowship that admires you for your missionary background. We hope you can visit us someday. PICF stands for Philippine International Fellowship. God bless you, your career, and your dedication to serve Him.

    Jim,

Focus on the Family is based on God’s word, not the world’s. I have never heard anyone at the organization indicate they hated or were afraid (homophobe) of homosexuals, just that it goes against God’s will. Check out 1 Corinthians 6:9.

    Rick

  4. Big Dad says:

Great young man who follows God-Jesus Christ in word and deed! I am a fan and so proud we still have young people who love God so much and not afraid of what worldly people think!
God’s opinion of Tim is all that matters! Great job Mr. and Mrs. Tebow, you have raised great Godly children!

God Bless and keep up the mission!

  5. athletes in action says:

I think Mr. Tebo is doing a great thing.. abortion is murder plain an simple. God said thou shalt NOT kill.Period.I would even say that abortion is a satanic human sacrifice.Wether the woman doing it knows it or not.America is the richest country on earth, but it is now Sodom. Doing Homo marriages in the church is an obamanation according to God also.
I also think Tebo should contact Roger Stauback so they can brng back ATHLETES IN ACTION. It was very poipular when I was a kid. And it impacted many youth for Jesus. The secular media already shows its hate for Tebo because he is a Christian. Sportscenter is even bias against him solely for his stand for JESUS. But GOD is on Tebos side. I think the missionary work he and his dad do averseas is great also. Now he will have lots of money to start missionarys all over the earth. (neeners to all the God haters lol:)

  6. PAULTM says:

Thou Shalt not Kill (Rom 13:9)

The omnipresent God will see those that commit murder, and abortion is murder. Respect to Mr and Mrs Tebow for raising a Godly Man, respect to Tim for your stance, we pray that you continue with your moral and ethical absolute stance.

    Thank You

As usual, those that support a particular divisive ideological issue like to quote Bible verses in support of said issue du jour. Here’s one for all of you adultery committing straight folk…when do you report to your death chambers?

    Deuteronomy 23:1

If a man commits adultery with another man’s wife–with the wife of his neighbor–both the adulterer and the adulteress must be put to death.

  10. Jon Huefner says:

Good for you Tim! You are of course setting yourself up for a lot of criticism, because abortion is a very lucrative enterprise and for many the love of money trumps their love for that which is good and true. Your mother is an amazing example of courage and love. God bless you both.

  11. Jana Johnson says:

Great job Tim! Don’t let the neysayers bother you. Freedom of speech is for everyone! Remember a majority of people are rooting for you – and the one with the most power – God! Bravo!

  12. Maria Gunther says:

You are truly an inspiration, I have faith in our future when young men like you stand up for G-ds children! Do not get discouraged and do not listen to people who disagree with you, remember they are from this world and do not matter. GOD BLESS YOU!!!

  13. Hurleykd says:

It’s amazing that certain groups try to dictate what is to air (error) on TV or not. Look at their agenda’s. You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free. Look at what fruit is grown on the tree. Is it good? Is it bad?

Mr. Tebow has more courage and guts than 99% of the people in the world. Guts alone doesn’t make a man, guts and God do!! Some of these people who are writing these comments don’t have the guts, fortitude, and honor to be at the same level as Mr. Tebow. Thank you Tim.

  14. K.C.Lee says:

Tim. You keep on doing what your doing if people are offended it’s there down fall spiritualy and morally. We are proud of you and I know your Moms gotta be bubbling over with pride and love. Your headed for the big leauges in more ways than one. God Speed. K.C.

  16. Rod says:

Tim, You are a blessed man, You are being used by God to deliver the message of the cross, and save many lives. Remember that God can use any of us reading this because it’s not us but Christ within us. May God continue to use you and your family. NOW…GO LEAD THE MEN OF THE NFL TO THE CROSS….OH GLORY DAY!

  17. Tracy says:

I don’t follow football or players but I am so very proud of this young man. I am now a fan of his. It takes courage to stand up for what you believe in.
    Thank you!

  18. Jennifer says:

I thank God that Tim Tebow is taking a stand for God and life. What a great Christian man. God says that he forms us in the womb and that He hates the shed of innocent blood. There is no blood more innocent than that of an unborn child. Also, it is medically proven that babies in the womb feel excruciating pain during an abortion. All you have to do is watch “the silent scream” as an abortionist, in his teaching video, rips a little boy limb by limb as his little 10 week old fingers are clinging for help in his mother’s womb and his mouth keeps opening in pain. After watching the video back, the abortionist realized the horror of what he had been doing for years and stopped and now works to save lives instead of take them. You will find that people who call pro-lifers “haters” is because they can’t look in the mirror and face what they’ve done to an innocent human being so they lash out at others because of their own shame and guilt that they can’t face. If they keep pointing fingers and yelling at others, they don’t have to face that they paid for someone to brutally take the life of their own innocent child. My heart is burdened for those because of all their pain. I have many friends who chose abortion, thinking it was a quick fix to a “problem” when they were younger, and now live with so much pain, anguish, and shame. Every single one of them long to be with their child and wish now they could take it back. Abortion hurts women and kills children-plain and simple.

Thank you Tim Tebow for standing up for life and I’m thankful your mother chose to give you life. May you always stay true to God and stand on His Word. May God richly bless you.

I live in The Bahamas and when I saw this news report, I was filled with nothing but joy. Continue to stand for Christ and be a light in this dark world.

  20. gary says:

I have not been a big fan of Tim Tebow the football player, but I am a huge fan of Tim Tebow the man! More important than being a winner on the gridiron is to be a winner in the game of life. This kid’s a winner, and I’m proud of him!

  21. Poppi Ann Tsumas says:

I am so proud of Tim Tebow for so many reasons. He is not only an excellent athlete, but a positive role model to our children. He stands up for what he believes in a time where most people do not. He does not fear rejection because he knows he is a winner in life and that by following God’s plan he will always come out on top.

Kudos to Tim and may this commercial touch the life of just one woman. God’s hand is in this work and it’s for a good purpose.

Thank you Mrs. Tebow for having faith in Jesus Christ and for bringing Tim into this world. As a mother, I am deeply touched by your story.

  22. Steve says:

Saw Gloria Allred on TV yesterday arguing Tebow’s story is invalid and irrelevant to “choice” because supposedly abortion is illegal in the Philippines (unlike in the US). She should be smart enough to see that pam Tebow could have left the Phillipines any time she wanted to to get an abortion. Silly arguments from people who argue for choice but would give anything to keep awareness of ALL choices to a minimum.

  23. kjohnston says:

I just want to say blessing to you for standing up for what you believe in and using your celebrity for a purpose. Those who love him will be persecuted for their beliefs (wish I could remember the specific verse). He’s using you for great things. I just saw the first commercial and don’t understand how people can be against it, except simply for the sake that some people need something to be against. Continue on your path and He will continue to use you for greatness according to his word.

  24. gatorgirl says:

I think you are great and this just goes to show why you will always be #1.You are a angel sent from above.I hope you never back down and will always stand up for what you believe in.

  25. connection33 says:

Thank you Pam and Tim. I am glad this was testified throughout the world. God planned it before Tim was born and it was his wish that this would be a testimony to the world. Why did he make Tim such a good football player? How did the media come to know about this story?. Focus on the family did a good job and it was worth the cost. May you continue to do the same, to reach the unreachable.
