We haven’t seen Super Bowl advertisement controversy like this in years – since the day GoDaddy.com first launched those sexy girl commercials. Tim Tebow is everywhere right now. You can turn on the TV or go to FoxNews.com, CBS News, CNN, and heck, even TMZ and see stories about Tim Tebow and the controversy surrounding CBS/NFL’s decision to run the Pro-Life ad featuring Tim and his mom, Pam.
My inbox has been flooded with emails arguing both sides of the story. Some say, this is America and if an organization can pay the money for an advertisement it should be allowed on TV. Then we have others saying keep social issues out of sports. Abortion is a very touchy subject for people all over the world. In fact, the National Organization for Women set up an online petition for people to sign and they plan on sending it to CBS.
It’s no secret that Tim Tebow wears his heart and who he is right there on his sleeve for the world to see… Remember the Tim Tebow eye black he worse before every Gator game. Tim uses every means he has as a platform for preaching his beliefs.
I have an email here from a man named Scott. He sums up the majority of the emails I’ve been getting. If this story continues (which I’m sure CBS wants it to for the exposure) I will continue to post emails on both sides of the issue. Discuss!
Hey Tim, I just wanted to say congratulations to you. Not for your sportsmanship, we all know that you are a world-class athlete, but for showing the world that you are man enough to stand for what you believe in and be true to yourself regardless of public opinion and pressure.
I am referring to an article that I just read concerning the anti-abortion super bowl ad. I just wanted to let you know how much I admire you for the stance you are taking.
I am one of the people that thank god every day of my life that my mother didn’t listen to the advice of others. My mother was told that she should have an abortion and thankfully she didn’t listen, so here I am. My mother was sitting in the doctors office waiting to go in to have an abortion when she got up and walked out and decided to give me life. Everyday of my life I think that I could have very easily never have existed, that’s a very weird thought to have.
One quote from the article that I read just really blew my mind. Someone in the article said that religion and sports have no business together. I don’t understand where that person was coming from. I remember in high school, before every football game we would have a prayer, I guess things have changed alot since then. However I don’t see where your stance is necessarily religious, I see it as a moral/religious issue. Saying that killing an innocent human being is wrong is the right thing to do and again, I greatly admire you for your stance.
You know what I don’t understand? People will say that you are wrong for your anti-abortion stance, but I wonder what they would say if you stopped someone on the street from killing an infant? If you saw someone on the street trying to kill an infant and didn’t try to stop them then you would be a bad guy. It really doesn’t make sense to me, after all a child is a child, it doesn’t matter if they are in the womb or out.
Well I think I’ve said enough and took up enough of your time. Again I admire your resolve and hope that you continue to stand your ground and be your own man. God bless you for what you are doing, you truly are a great role model and an even better person.
Sincerely,
Scott
Thank you for standing up for what you believe in.
I’m pretty sure your job is to get good grades and play football. I’m pretty sure your job is NOT to preach to me. Otherwise, I’d hear about you working at my local church. Who do you think you are, telling everyone how to live their life? If I wanted preaching, I’d be in church on Sunday instead of watching football. Give me a break, kid…
Thank you Tim! For those who do not have a deep relationship with Christ, they do not understand you cannot seperate faith from you life which includes sports.
I just wanted to stop by and commend you, for the ad you are taking part in. I am a 26 yr old and I know that young people these days are so scared to stand up for what they believe in, especially if it’s not the “norm” or they could be labeled. I think all too often we’re told to repress ourselves… meanwhile of course, the gay agenda is shoved down our throats, as well as the Pro-choice agenda, the atheist agenda, I could go on & on. We have to listen to that crap daily… but heaven forbid anyone be a morally minded, god loving, baby loving person and speak our minds. So good for you! Quite awesome. As far those telling you to “shut your mouth” or “stay out of it” … how dare they. You are more than entitled to your opinions and that thing we call a constitution gives you the freedom to speak your opinions. Your family should be very proud & most importantly your maker is very proud. Thank You for being an inspiration!

Tim,
Big Georgia fan- Sorry – But wanted to let you know a few things – One we here in the Panhandle are thank you for remembering the local child , friend of our children who died during a football game in Niceville Florida. Second – You are to be commended with your family for standing up for what you believe in NO matter what these others believe. I may not like beer, hooters, or to see politicians attach each other but you can bet that I see that on TV every day as well as scenes on TV that border on porn. We have to be very careful even on music channels with our children so they don’t see nudity. With all this – these people who are giving you grief are just looking for a reason to put you and others down. Stay above them – don’t go down to their level! You and your family are better! The people that are meant to hear your message will benefit from it, the others are close minded and we have to pray our God will find a way to open their hearts and minds. Wishing you all the best in life – Just wish you were a Dawg! God Bless!
You know it sounds like a few of you – Brent – Scott – Need to realize that they are not preaching to YOU personally and if you take it that way it may mean you need to get off your sofa and go to church. So much anger to, but what they decided to do and why. When you sit, listen and must believe what beer companies, environmental groups, food companies, our brilliant politicians (who are doing such a wonderful job improving our country) tells you to believe. Time to enter reality, Remember now anyone can purchase an add thanks to those politicians. Sounds like you just don’t like Mr. Tebow , well I am not a Florida fan, but if I want to place an add I will as well and you should have the option to watch or get off the sofa and do something better! Like go to church. Hope someone other than you or the TV is teaching your kids. Thanks for standing up and giving your opinion, even if it is a hard issue for our country Tim and family. It is time we faced some hard issues.
Any disagreement about the issue aside, Tim you made a poor decision. It is neither the time, nor the place, for such an ad. Think of what the 2.5 million dollar cost of the ad could have done to affect positive change regarding a non-controversial issue, like Haiti for example.
Use your popularity to promote good things, not further polarization of our country based on what should be an issue of family and faith.
I just want to say I’am from Oklahoma and want say that I’am a Tim Tebow fan. Not so much for his ability play football although I think he is a great foot ball player but because stands up for what is right. He is a great mentor for this generation and for generatons to come.I beleive he will be greatly rewarded in the Kingdom of God for what he is doing today . He must have such a great mom and dad.Look at the world would of missed if Tims mom would of aborted him.She should be commened for what she did.I just want you to know Tim that my family and I will be praying for you and your family.Keep up what your doing and don’t back off of
what God has called you to do.We Love Tim and pray that you make it to the supper bowl.
I am a huge USC fan and have never once cheered for UF but every day I learn more and more about Tebow and think he is the greatest role model and example I have seen in a long time. God continue to bless Tim and one word of encouragement for Tim would be John 15:18- If the world hates you, realize that it hated me first.
Tim and his family are an inspiration to life. His mom risked her life for his. Thats what most living things do, right? How about a moma bear with her cubs? Is she protecting her young when approached by intruders? Alligators watch and protect their young as well! Try to catch a baby, I bet moms not to far away. In anycase this slot during the superbowl could be considered pro choice! Tim’s mom choose life! Lets not have this moment on air during family time take away any space for those wonderful make your kids want to drink slots for heavens sake.Get a life people, just think if you had been aborted this wouldn’t be an issue for you , would it??? My family and I are truely praying for everyone who objects to our & yours freedom of speach. God Bless America and those serving our country instead of sitting comfortably on their couch watching the game!!
Tim Tebow is a beast!! not only on the football field but also off the field. Tim is an amazing guy, and I wish we had more like him. I’m 16 years old, and watching the things
Tim Tebow does is absolutely outstanding! He has changed my life, and made me realize that you can be a dedicated christian and also be a football player too. What a lot people doesn’t know is that Tim’s mom was given advice when she was having Tim to abort him because she was young. Of course, she didn’t and look at everything now. Just imagine if we never had abortions; how many of those babies could of been another Tim Tebow. I love what you do Tim. Keep it up!
God bless.
I’ll sit through the entire Superbowl just to support the ad.
Thank you Tebow family, Focus on the Family and CBS.
At first, I was kind of indifferent about the ad at first since it’s such a touchy issue with people. I’m neither for or against it, but when I thought about it, if I were Tim I would be against abortion too. He could be dead right now! Even if you weren’t religious and your mom decided against aborting you, I’m sure you would be against it too! He has every right to stand up for what he believes in, and knowing Tim the ad won’t be like, “IF YOU GET AN ABORTION, YOU’RE GOING TO BURN IN HELL!”. It’ll be an ad most likely just stating his beliefs and the Tebow’s abortion story, and it’ll get people to think that ‘Maybe my kid could help man kind, or be a total stud like Tim Tebow, so I shouldn’t get an abortion!’ I don’t think the ad will be as crazy as everyone thinks. So GO TIM TEBOW! And good luck in the Senior Bowl Timmy!
Just noticing here that most of the support is coming from women. Why are these men so threatened by Tebow’s convictions? Makes one wonder…..
“Just noticing here that most of the support is coming from women. Why are these men so threatened by Tebow’s convictions? Makes one wonder…..”
Because it’s a lot easier to write one check to an abortionist than it is to write 18 years of child support payment checks…
Sorry, I hit Submit too soon…
What I meant by my comment above is that a lot of guys that are sports fans see females as things to be used & thrown away-like Kleenex. And if ‘using’ them results in pregnancy, those guys want to have the easy availability of abortion, b/c it’s a lot less painful to write that one check to the abortionist than it is to write 18 years of child support payment checks.
There are other reasons, too (envy usually factors into Tebow-hating), but I do think what I said above is a major reason.
Brooke exactly.
Huge DITTO to all the support!!! Tebow’s life story is something no one can take away or make disappear… true for each and every one of us. To see someone willing to “step into the lion’s den”, so to speak, knowing what kind of howling would ensue because of it is truly admirable. Standing O! As most of us have already known for sometime now, those who have tagged themselves tolerant, liberal-minded, etc., are anything BUT. This banshi scream of the out-dated, old-guard, pro-death group NOW is to be expected by their ilk. They are not about freedom, but control. (planned parenthood sure adverttises!) Everything is tolerated save Christianity. Thank God for the inspiration of seeing a Godly example of an athlete… I’m so sick and tired of all the rotten, perverse lives of athletes being in the mainstream media for all to see. Peace!
May GOD BLESS Tebow for what he is doing! I am thankful that He chose to make this ad and that it’s going to air during the SB. I do have to wonder if all those people that are complaing ever stopped to think that their parents chose LIFE.
You know everyone in America has the right to free speech. Why can’t Tim Tebow have that right. If someone wants to give millions of dollars for an add for the Super Bowl, then let them. What gives anyone against what Tim Tebow believes in the right to “keep his oppinions to his self”? If they had millions to put into an add for abortions then they have that right too. Who are we to say that someone else can’t say what we don’t want to hear. If you don’t like it, turn the channel. I applaud Tim Tebow for standing up for what he believes in and not standing because it’s not “PC”.
Thank you Tim Tebow for standing up for what’s right. We need more good commericials, seriously. and he has every right to be pro-life with his circumstances. God bless
You “go” Tim! We are proud of you for not being ashamed to stand up for what you believe! We’re behind you!
Col. and Mrs. John Pettit
WA
I applaud Mr. Tebow’s beliefs however when his mother was making her “choice” she had the freedom to make that “choice.” I was in the same position and made the same “choice” however I do not believe that I have the power to make that “choice” for others. I wonder what Mrs. Tebow would have done if she was told what she had to do, either way, and was not able to make the “choice” for herself or family?
This ad will now open the door for all religions and groups to use major advertising time and may lead to educationing the public regarding diverse beliefs! This is a big door that has now been opened!
Hey! I am 17 yrs old, and have been homeschooled for 10 years, and I look up to Tim. So, WAY TO GO ON THE COMMERCIAL!!!! ALL FOR IT!
I don’t follow football but I saw your name in a headline regarding a Super Bowl commercial. Thank you for standing up as a Christian to voice your belief against abortion.
Tim, you are really a winner, both in the game and life.
As a girl, i am so grateful for your voice against abortion!
come on!
Congrats, Tim on all the success you have had and hopefully continue to have in football and life. I appreciate you taking the time to voice your thoughts on abortion. Can not wait to see the commercial. xoxo
Tim,
Thanks for doing the Super Bowl ad and being a great role model for all you men across America. Hope to see you in a RAMS uniform next year…we could use the help.
For one, tebow has never condemned anyone for their beliefs. Even if his commerical was a tool to make people feel guity, then good. Some one of his celebrity status needs to hold people accountable for their actions. We live in a country were we are free to kill unborn babies, just listen to that statement, we freely kill unborn babies. Yes, their are gray areas, but for those mothers who just don’t want to put up with a baby then that is wrong. We see so many celebrities with have naked girls on their videos or commericals running around making a mockery of themselves, and the womens activist groups say nothing. Yet, the first commerical that comes on about moral standards and pro life, womens activist throw a fit, they say their pro choice, isnt pro life just one of those choices. Tebows mother decided to give birth to him, rather then abort, and they are simply sharing that story. People that are bothered by tebow and this ad feel guilty for whatever reason, and this just means the ad worked.
No one has the right to legislate or preach to me about what to do with my body.
Turn the tables, read the statistics when abortion was illegal. Then tell me with your smile and child-less life how great it is to be in the morass that condones the death penalty and sending people just like you to be killed in a war that was built and perpetrated on lies.
Do not tell me what to do with my body. I resent it and will never watch another superbowl. This is so rude and worthless.
God bless you Tim. God will use the ad. to save a life or even more.
Play football not politics Tim. No one cares about your political views. Leave politics to politicians, and you do the only thing you know how to, play football.
it amazes me how ignorant people can be sometimes. If u watched the ad he never said what to do with your body Zenbud, and just cause your a person who holds no regard for a child’s life doesn’t mean the rest of the world should be as heartless as you. Aside from my own bias, Tebow merely shared his life story he has NEVER condemned anyone else for their actions or beliefs. Just because he chooses to live a Christ like life, and not just claim to be a Christian, and then do whatever he wants,if only more famous people could stand for God as Tebow does. It is true, true Christians will be persecuted the harshest. Tebow, may God bless you, and the works you do unto him. I only hope that with Gods grace i can be like you, and not be afraid to share my beliefs not matter the cost.
TIM….CAN YOU PLEASE HIT SCOTT THOMPSON LIKE YOU HIT YOUR MOM IN THE COMMERCIAL?
