I live in Jacksonville and listen to a lot of sports talk radio. Every day on every station there is talk about Tim Tebow getting drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars – who will have the 10th or 11th pick in the upcoming NLF Draft. Some fans are adament about the Jaguars drafting him, while others absolutely don’t want to see him in Jacksonville. It’s probably split 60% for him and 40% against.
On Tuesday, the Jaguars held a Team Teal pep rally to drive ticket sales. While there, Jaguars General Manager Gene Smith (the guy who drafts players) had this to say about Tim Tebow.
“I hope he has a great career in the NFL wherever it’s at, whether we’re a cat in this hat or somewhere else in the league,” said Smith. “He’s gonna be successful at anything he pursues in life.”
Smith also praised Tebow’s efforts in the community and his leadership. In discussing the way Tim willed himself and his team to some victories in college, Gene said, “I’m a firm believer that will wins more than skill.”
Nobody knows what will happen until Draft Day. Every team in the NFL will take a hard look at Tim. The Jaguars are linked to him so much for a few reasons:
1. Tim Tebow is from Jacksonville, so he’d be playing in front of his hometown crowd
2. The Jaguars need a quarterback
3. The Jaguars have serious ticket sale issues and Tim would definitely bring in new fans
4. The Jaguars lack star power and you can’t find a bigger super star than Tim Tebow in the draft
5. The Jaguars lack leadership in the locker room
Tim Tebow can cure all the Jaguars ills … as long as he produces and becomes a good NFL player. Will the Jags take the risk and pick him with their first selection, we’ll see!
Tim Tebow will find a way to win regardless of the team he’s on. If he’s on the field as a starter, all the better. The man lives for God and he’s been a blessing to every team he’s ever been on. TT’s given a lot of verses to people over the last two seasons but I think the one that applies to him now is Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you says the Lord, plans for good and not for evil to give you a future and a hope”. Like I said, he wins, regardless of where he goes or what position he plays.
I think Tim Tebow becoming a Jaguar would not be in the best interest for Tim. Not sure what the problem is with our Jaguars, but I know that they need to prove themselves before we give him such an outstanding player. Remember, Tim will tell you that a winning football team is a “team effort.”
I think Tim Tebow should go the Vikings. He’d be with Percy Harvin again and hopefully phase out Brett Farve
