This week there has been a lot of Heisman talk, but really no clear consensus as to who should win or who should even be invited to New York City for the ceremony. Tim Tebow won the Heisman as a sophomore back in 2007 after an insane statistical season. The Gators weren’t that good, but Tim put the team on his back and broke dozens of records on the way. This year, Tim’s numbers aren’t that impressive but the team is 10-0 and only a few wins away from the BCS Championship Game.
“I don’t think that’s something that I really am worried about right now or thinking about,” Tebow said. “I’m extremely focused on these next few games, and you know what? If we win those games, I won’t be too discouraged if I don’t go to New York.”
Coach Urban Meyer disagrees. He thinks Tim deserves it. “Yeah, I’d be upset,” Urban Meyer said. “He’s one of the best players in college football, and he’s the quarterback on the No. 1 team in college football. I think the Heisman goes to the best player, and I think it’d be hard to argue he’s not one of the best players in college football.”
I believe Tim when he says the Heisman doesn’t mean much to him. It’s an individual award and Tim has always been a team player. He’s a leader and never isolates himself on the field or in the locker room. So what is he doing with the Heisman he has now?
“Where’s my Heisman? In the living room of my family’s house, like in the corner, behind my sister’s wedding pictures,” said Tebow, who added, “Probably, like, bushes over it and stuff.”
What’s funny is you know he’s being totally serious!
