ESPN The Magazine Names Tim Tebow Academic All-American of the Year

For the second year in a row, Florida Gator quarterback Tim Tebow has been named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American of the year. This is the first time a player has ever been honored with this distinction in two consecutive year.

From GatorZone.com

Tebow is majoring in Family, Youth and Community Sciences and has a 3.66 grade point average. As a sophomore, he was honored as the winner of the Heisman Trophy, the Davey O’Brien Award and the Maxwell Award. A first-team All-American quarterback, Tebow passed for 3,286 yards and threw 32 touchdown passes that season. He also set an NCAA record by rushing for 23 touchdowns.

Tim Tebow just never ceases to amaze me. Fans have to be impressed with his ability to maintain a 3.66 GPA while dedicating countless hours to football and off the field activities. Yes, I know he is only taking one class this Fall semester – but still he managed to keep his GPA up for 130 credit hours at UF.

Over the next few weeks as the season winds down, I’m sure we’ll be hearing Tim’s name a lot more in conjunction with honors and awards. Congratulations Tim!
