Tim Tebow Square Off Against Miss. State

The Florida Gators are headed to Starkville, Mississippi tomorrow night for a 7:30 PM kickoff against the Mississippi State Bulldogs. The Bulldogs are coached by former Florida Gator offensive coordinator Dan Mullen. Mullen of course spent a lot of time with Tim Tebow over the years, developing him as a quarterback. The two know each other extremely well. Could that be a good thing, or a bad thing when it comes to the gridiron?

“We were close,” Tebow said. “I don’t think it was necessarily that tough (losing him). It was because we missed him, we wanted him here. But at the same time, I knew that he wanted a head coaching job. He wanted that next goal, that next task, that next thing that he could go out there and accomplish, and that was being a head coach.”

Coach Mullen confirmed.

“I’ve always kind of had those kind of guys that really want to spend extra time in the office trying to become better players. That’s kind of where it went,” Mullen said. “For Tim and I, Tim is one of those players who wants to be the best he can be, so he would spend as much time around as he could, trying to learn. And when you spend that much time together, obviously you get a great relationship.”

Since SEC play has started, Tim Tebow hasn’t been able to find a grove and start rolling. He’s yet to put up a monster statistical game. Gator fans are used to seeing those 300 yard 4 touchdown performances. Will this be the week we finally see one? I hope so. The Bulldogs are 3-4 and have given up 30+ points 4 times this season. Tebow will look to his favorite targets Hernandez and Cooper early and often. Deonte Thompson had that huge catch last week vs. Arkansas but he doesn’t normally get separation like that. I also expect Urban Meyer to run Tebow a lot. I think he’ll have around 14 carries and 50 yards on the ground.

It will be a hostile environment, but I believe Tim will lead the team to victory… something to the tune of 31-10. What do you think?

Florida has to get by this weekend before any claims can be made and UF history in Starkville isn’t too good. Recap; Spurrier 0-2 (Shane Matthews, Rex Grossman), Zook 0-1 (fired) (Chris Leak). And I think Vegas has a higher opinion of the Gators than their fans; 22 point favorites. HAH! Barely scored 22 last week and if it weren’t for the home town refs calls ( Ghost Pass interference and Personal Foul) to move them into FG range, there would be no discussion now. By the way, that ref team has been suspended for two weeks for poor unjustified penalty calls. Plus UF faces their former O coordinator who will probably use his knowledge of their offense and personnel to throw a couple of wrinkles at them. Combine that with the blueprint Arkansas provided to hassle Tebow and put a spy on him and the game could be interesting quick. Mississippi State’s key to win is to protect the ball and don’t give the game away on turnovers or stupid penalties. Will the Dogs win? Maybe. But who has more to lose….

  2. good luck tebow :D im sure you will do fine!
