I know it’s Florida vs. Georgia week … and I’ll get to that tomorrow, but I saw this email come through on Monday and wanted to post it. I’ve changed the names to protect their privacy. Shelia B. wanted to tell Tim Tebow how much he means to her fiancee, Jimmy. Jimmy went through some tough times growing up and now Gator football is his greatest passion. It’s stories like this that make Tim unique among all other college players. His reach over the entire world is amazing. It’s quite clear now that he came back to UF for his senior season not just to bring an undefeated season to the school, but to use football as a platform to share his beliefs and to be a role model to everyone.
Tim,
I just wanted to let you know what an inspiration you are to people of all ages. Not only are you an awesome football player but a role model too. My fiancee, Jimmy, is 30 years old and looks up to you with so much adoration. If I may tell you his story I know you will understand why. When he turned 18 he fought for custody of his younger brother and sister because his parents were less than capable of caring for them due to “selfish reasons”. His sister was in a girls home and brother was a ward of the state. He won and raised them until they were old enough to care for themselves. His brother and sister now have families of their own.The sacrifice Jimmy had to make was his life long dream. Ever since he was a kid his dream was to be a baseball player. He played all through high school and received a scholarship to UF to pitch. When his family was in need he chose them over his dream. Instead of going to UF he worked 3 jobs and raised his brother and sister, at 18 years old. He is a die hard gators fan and has watched you through out your entire career. Now, he’s not much of a religious man but he even looks up the scriptures on your face on game day. He’s very impressed by your lifestyle, the way you carry yourself and what you put your heart into. To him, everything you do is to try to make a difference for someone else. Again, I just wanted to let you know how much you mean to him and how much he looks up to you. He doesn’t realize it but I look up to him.

Dear “shiela”,
It seems to me the role model is backwards here, Tebow just an opinionated young (great) football player who is unfortunately going to be abused by the media and those in power. Hes got his convictions, but dont we all. I think your husband is the true hero here if were doing comparisons, many people do outreach, just not many are in the lime light….but it took real guts to do what your husband did..let him know that. Sorry to all the hardcore tebow fans for puting him down a notch here…but dosent anyone agree this lady’s husband is the real deal here? just askin respectfully.
Sheila you have a great fiancee and a ‘hero’! bless you and your family! Pray for Tim so he’ll stay being a good christian boy till the end!
As an outspoken Christian, Shouldn’t it bother Tebow to run up the score on the smaller schools. Seems to me to be rubbing it in when he is throwing for the end zone in the fourth quarter when you have a thirty point lead. Maybe I’m from the old school when they didn’t do it.
Tim,
You inspire me everyday to be a better person.I try my hardest to be better everytime I see you talk after a game.Or see you during a football game using good sportsmanship.Thank you.
