The Florida Gators opened their SEC schedule on Saturday against a tough Tennessee Volunteers defense. Look, after all the hype going into the game I was one of the people thinking the Gators would just murder the Vols and completely embarass them. Well, that didn’t happen. The Vols played some very tough defense and held the Gators in check, despit still losing 13-23.

The Gators were victorious in part by Tim Tebow‘s tough performance. He rushed the ball a season high 24 times and wore out the Vols defense. In the end, Tim was 14-19 passing for 115 yards and 1 interception. He rushed the ball 24 times for 76 yards and a touchdown. Not a Heisman-like performance at all. Tim also had a crucial fumble down by the Tennessee 5 goal line. A score there would have given the Gators a respectable 30-13 win.

After watching this game, a lot of NFL experts are now in agreeance that Tim Tebow can’t be an NFL quarterback. I’ll admit he played terribly on Saturday. His throws were off and he was too quick to tuck and run. Maybe it was the play calling? Maybe not… but I think it’s too early in the season to write him off as an NFL QB.

The Gators are still No. 1 in the country and still undefeated, so Tim Tebow is doing his job.
