It was released the other day that Tim Tebow was left off many of the Heisman voter’s ballots completely. That shows a complete lack of class by some voters. It’s fine if voters don’t want to put Tim Tebow 1st, 2nd or even 3rd… but to leave him off the ballot completely is a disgrace. The Heisman Committee prides itself on the integrity of the Award and the voting class. They supposedly work hard to get the best unbiased voters in the country. If you ask me, things need a little shake up at the Heisman headquarters.
Florida coach Urban Meyer questioned the number of voters who left Tim Tebow off their Heisman ballots and wondered if those voters actually watched football. “It was 190 ballots, I heard,” Meyer said after Tuesday’s practice.
Asked if it boggled his mind that so many voters didn’t put Tebow on their ballot, Meyer said: “Uh, yeah. I could go on and on about that. Can you imagine? Think about that for a minute. Maybe you don’t watch football and you’ve got a ballot. I’d like to meet them and say, what? The Heisman goes to the best college football player.”
Asked if too many people had ballots, Meyer took a shot at those who didn’t pick Tebow among their top three. “I don’t know enough about it, but I know there’s 190-some too many. If there’s 194 that left him off, there’s 194 too many ballots out there,” Meyer said.
I love the way Meyer conducts himself with the media and isn’t afraid to step up and protect his players. It shows a lot about him and does wonders in the recruiting world.
Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, please bless Tim Tebow, thank you for all he does in your name and help him to continue to glorify you in everything he does. Bless his family and friends and give him strength to do your will. Bless him especially during the BCS game in January and give him your peace. In Jesus’Name, Amen
Personally, I don’t think leaving him off a ballot is the end of the world.
Voting is, at its core, a democratic process. People have just as much right to vote for Tim Tebow as they do for Kaipo-Noa Kaheaku-Enhada (Yes, there is such a college football player)
There are only three spots, and Bradford, Tebow, McCoy, and Graham Harrell all made cases for the trophy. At least one of those four get left off of every voter’s ballot; that’s just the way the system works.
Personally, I have a hard time believing that the voters who selected Harrell over Tebow are the type of people who cheat at cards, disrespect women, or pathologically lie.
In most other years, Tim Tebow wins his second Heisman in a landslide. And the rules say that everybody had a fair shot, and Sam Bradford won the trophy in fair competition.
So the quarterback of 11-1 Texas Tech, which, in spite of its record, was left out of the Big 12 title game, placed 3rd in its division, and has to settle for a trip in the Cotton Bowl, getting left out of the finalist list is not classless? But a quarterback who still got the most first-place votes (given the circumstances, a magnanimous gesture) but was left off some ballots was indeed classless?
Personally, I prefer taking out my aggression on Oklahoma and the incumbent winner over writing a post. Tebow might not have two Heismans, but shouldn’t a national championship at least be something of a consolation prize for UF faithful?
you fucking gay
Peter is sort of right but wrong when he says one of those 4 gets left out every year, Not true last year and the years before that its been 4 people there in NYC instead of 3 this year, and the reason why he is so mad is because Harrell and Crabtree weren’t even finalists so you know they aren’t going to win so whats the point in voting for them, basically you just waste your vote
I feel that we should not focus on the very few minority that does not like Tebow and turn our attention towards the significant majority of people who appreciate this young man who displays such character, leadership qualities, and the passion this boy brings to the game. He is an amazing role model to my 9 year old son who is homeschooled. I thank the Lord each and every day for Tebow being an example before my children and nephews and nieces and that’s what it’s really all about. To show the world the meaning of Phil. 4:13 and that we truly can do all things through Christ which strengthens us. We all know if we watch any college football that Tebow deserved to win the Heisman Trophy this year. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure this out. However, the good lord knows how to keep us humble. Great things are going to come out of Tebow as long as he keeps Jesus Christ first in his life. Timmy knows he has a higher calling to fulfil that he will never get a way from. The Lord will bless him and he will play in the NFL. Who knows how long? Only God. It’s all about building the kingdom of God and the work he has called us to do.
Tim Tebow you keep doing your thing Little Brother and keep shining that bright light for Jesus that he has given you to hold.
My family loves you and we got you covered in our prayers.
i heard it was because he threw God in their faces… some people have no class… meyer’s right, there were 190 too many
Tim is the class act of college football, he is every little boys role model not only as a player but as a young man. Being a former all-American athlete I wish I would have known Jesus Christ when I played but now all I can do is raise my 3 boys with Christ as the center of their life, my wife & I also homeschool our kids and I use Tim all the time as the example of what they can do with their lives.
It’s unfortunate that “bob right” could be so WRONG with his comment. Bob Right if you disagreed with any of the commentaries or the article, why not make an intelligent comment instead of the unnecessary derogatory declaration. It’s a waste of our time and is perceptibly juvenile.
Tebow is not only an all around athlete he is an all around individual. Everyone should aspire to grow strength from his faith and belief in the Lord Almighty. God bless you Tebow, fellow Gator athletes and Gator Nation. Good Luck at the BCS Championship game. Regardless of the outcome, you will always succeed.
Matthew 6:5.
in general people just love to critize someone that is a step above everyone else, and if you have god in your life they are more critical, hech i am 63 years and tebow is an inspiration to me, as for bob right i won’t bother to comment, he will be dealt with in time
