Ealier this week, it was announced that Tebo was a seminofinalst for the Davey O’Brien Award. From GatorZone.com:
The Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award today announced Florida junior quarterback Tim Tebow (Jacksonville, Fla.) as one of 13 semifinalists for the 2008 O’Brien Award, presented annually to the nation’s best quarterback.
Tebow, the 2007 winner of the O’Brien Award, and the 12 other semifinalists will contend for the award until the list is narrowed to three finalists on Nov. 24. Five percent of the next round of voting lies in the The Fan Vote, which will re-open at 3 p.m. (EDT) Monday, with the voting total at zero. Gator fans can vote for Tebow once daily by visiting www.VoteOBrien.org.
There are a lot of great college QBs on the list, such as Sam Bradford, Colt McCoy, Chase Dnaiel, Graham Harrell and Matt Stafford. With Tebow having a “down” year and the fact that he won it last year, I’d be surprised if they awarded it to him again. Only three quaterbacks (Ty Detmer, Danny Wuerffel, and Jason White) have won it back to back.
But good luck Timmy, we’ll be sure to rally the vote!
