Stats Cut in Half

Tim Tebow will be the first to tell you that he doesn’t care about his statistics. “You think we’re playing Tennessee, and I’m worrying about how many passes I’m throwing?” Tebow said this week with a testy chuckle.

In 2007, Tebow was 45-for-61 for 835 yards and eight touchdowns. He also had 192 yards rushing on 43 attempts.

This season, the left-hander has completed 38 of 64 throws for 489 yards (almost half as many yards per completion) and five scores. He’s carried the ball 34 times for 118 yards and no scores.

The point is that the Gators are winning, and they’re winning big. Style points don’t matter as much to Coach Urban Meyer when you’re putting marks in the Win column. For teams that struggle to win big games or play in weak conferences (Texas Tech), they have to light up the scoreboard and put up monster stats for anyone to take notice.

“You’ll see them eventually,” Tebow promised. “We just beat Tennessee. I’m not complaining about anything.” I couldn’t have said it any better myself.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. You SEC kids are so cocky. Really, texas tech plays in a “weak conference”? News flash: The gators lost to a BIG TEN TEAM IN BOWL PLAY!!! Moreover, Harrell does have some monster stats, and yes his team is struggling to win games, but its not like at FL where the defense basically has to get the offense going (and even score points) to be effective, and even then its only in the second half.

Texas Tech also plays in the same conference as Oklahoma (better than GA) Texas (better than South Carolina) and of course Mizzou (better than…well all SEC teams). Lastly, the SEC is riddled with HORRIBLE offenses (note: LSU Auburn and Arkansas) thus some of these teams offensive stats are ran up, but thats because they are faster and smarter, and simply better than SEC offenses.

Nonetheless, Tebow is not the reason the gators are winning, its their defense, major wright is a beast and brandon spikes (if healthy) will carry them into a strong showing until of course they lose to LSU for the second straight year.

butch, are you serious that Missouri is better than all the teams in sec? That’s crazy. They’d get beat by at least Georgia, Florida and lsu.
