More Tebow Practice Tidbits

Lindsay Jones of the Palm Beach Post, wrote an article of her observations from Spring Practice on Friday. Here is an excerpt of what she had to say about our favorite Gator, Tim Tebow.

The new wrinkles to the Gator offense this year will likely be the addition of a no-huddle offense, and putting quarterback Tim Tebow under center — instead of the shot-gun — at times. Adding the no-huddle should help Florida add to its total of number of plays per game (it averaged about 70 last year, and Mullen said the no-huddle could bump that up to around 80). “We’re not changing the offense,” Mullen said, “its just changing the speed we’re executing it.” Urban Meyer said that adding the no-huddle will hopefully help the team in late-game situations. “We have athletes,” Meyer said. “No-huddle is a chance for us to wear [opposing defenses] out.”

So they want to play Tebow more under center instead of in the shotgun. This obviously tells us they run be running Tebow as much anymore, at least not in the open field where he is exposed to injury. Meyer must be confident about his backfield if they want to reduce Tebow’s involvement in the running game. I’m excited about seeing Tebow use his arm a lot more this year and prove the NFL scouts that he can throw the ball far and accurate.

I also like the addition of the no-huddle offense. The Gators sucked last year in the 2-minute drill at the end of the game. If they put in a lot of time this Spring working on that, I know that Tebow can close out those close games.

and the cotton bowl…might i add (SEC aint that tough

…o yea, and youre right, we’ll see how good of an arm tebow really has, but its not just his arm. We will see what kind of reads he can make, with the no huddle the adjustments have to come quick, there will be more audibles etc etc and the speed off the edge of some of these SEC defenses has not gotten slower at all (in fact quite the opposite note: Miami).

  5. Jordan AKA Mrs. Tebow says:

The SEC ain’t that tough!?!?! Right… The SEC is considered to be one of the strongest conferences on and off the field. 10 out of 12 of our universities are on the list of the best national universities. The SEC has won the most BCS National Championship games(4, it started in 1998)and has NEVER lost. The “best team” in the so called,”Big 10″, can’t beat us in a bowl game. And does the word MANNING mean anything to you?? We’re not perfect, nobody is, but we come pretty d*** close. (DO NOT say the Big 10 is better than the SEC. It’s not. They don’t even come close. The only conference that could possibly be better than the SEC is the Big 12.)

  6. Vincent Gagliano says:

Actually, you’re right. The Big Ten is not stronger than the SEC.

    But the Pac-10 is.

  7. Vincent Gagliano says:

And doesn’t the name “Tom Brady” mean anything around here?

  8. Jordan AKA Mrs. Tebow says:

Sure it does. He’s the one whose team lost the superbowl to Eli Manning’s Giants. =D

Oh yeah, I forgot about the Pac-10. They’re good, too. Oregon and USC are the best out of that bunch.
