My inbox has been flooded with emails arguing both sides of the story. Some say, this is America and if an organization can pay the money for an advertisement it should be allowed on TV. Then we have others saying keep social issues out of sports. Abortion is a very touchy subject for people all over the world. In fact, the National Organization for Women set up an online petition for people to sign and they plan on sending it to CBS.
It’s no secret that Tim Tebow wears his heart and who he is right there on his sleeve for the world to see… Remember the Tim Tebow eye black he worse before every Gator game. Tim uses every means he has as a platform for preaching his beliefs.
I have an email here from a man named Scott. He sums up the majority of the emails I’ve been getting. If this story continues (which I’m sure CBS wants it to for the exposure) I will continue to post emails on both sides of the issue. Discuss!
]]>Hey Tim, I just wanted to say congratulations to you. Not for your sportsmanship, we all know that you are a world-class athlete, but for showing the world that you are man enough to stand for what you believe in and be true to yourself regardless of public opinion and pressure.
I am referring to an article that I just read concerning the anti-abortion super bowl ad. I just wanted to let you know how much I admire you for the stance you are taking.
I am one of the people that thank god every day of my life that my mother didn’t listen to the advice of others. My mother was told that she should have an abortion and thankfully she didn’t listen, so here I am. My mother was sitting in the doctors office waiting to go in to have an abortion when she got up and walked out and decided to give me life. Everyday of my life I think that I could have very easily never have existed, that’s a very weird thought to have.
One quote from the article that I read just really blew my mind. Someone in the article said that religion and sports have no business together. I don’t understand where that person was coming from. I remember in high school, before every football game we would have a prayer, I guess things have changed alot since then. However I don’t see where your stance is necessarily religious, I see it as a moral/religious issue. Saying that killing an innocent human being is wrong is the right thing to do and again, I greatly admire you for your stance.
You know what I don’t understand? People will say that you are wrong for your anti-abortion stance, but I wonder what they would say if you stopped someone on the street from killing an infant? If you saw someone on the street trying to kill an infant and didn’t try to stop them then you would be a bad guy. It really doesn’t make sense to me, after all a child is a child, it doesn’t matter if they are in the womb or out.
Well I think I’ve said enough and took up enough of your time. Again I admire your resolve and hope that you continue to stand your ground and be your own man. God bless you for what you are doing, you truly are a great role model and an even better person.
Sincerely,
Scott
