The South started the game with the first possession. Tim Tebow was the starter and led the team to a first down, but ultimately had to punt after he threw a couple of incomplete passes. Tim played in 4 other series during the 3rd and 4th quarter. He finished the game 8-12 for 50 yards passing and was sacked 1 time – he also had one turnover, a fumble on a running play.
When you look at Tim’s performance in his first pro offense setting it doesn’t look too pretty. Remember though, he was playing with strep throat and the players only had like 4 days of practice. It takes a lot of time to build chemistry with your center and receivers. What do you think of Tim’s performance in the Senior Bowl? Post a comment and let me know.
Tim’s next chance to impress college scouts will come at the Gator Pro Day (in March I believe) and at the NFL Combine. There’s no doubt in my mind he will be off the charts at those two days.
I tried looking for videos of the Senior Bowl, but they were hard to find. All I could find was this video of Tim doing pre-game stretches.
]]>There are a lot of reports coming out of Mobile that Tim still isn’t looking that sharp at practice. I’m not in Mobile, so I can’t say for myself. It would be nice to see him with my own eyes. So if you’re there, please post a comment and let us know what you think.
Here are a couple of videos that help recap the Tim Tebow’s practices at the Senior Bowl so far this week.
The first one is from Todd McShay of ESPN. Todd is a guy that had Tim as his No. 1 NFL prospect after the Heisman year, but has since dropped him to like the 50th best quarterback. It’s very clear after reading McShay’s work over the last two years that he is not a Tebow fan.
And here is a video of Tebow and one of his best friends Riley Cooper. Just messing around…
]]>One of the ares of concern for Tim is that he didn’t take snaps from under center while in college. In the video from NFL.com they show him fumble a snap from under the center. Now, maybe that was his only fumble of the day – I don’t know, but it’s not going to help his case.
I can’t embed the video on this site, so you’ll have to watch it here.
NFL.com says after Day 1 of practice Tim’s stock is going down.
Tim Tebow, Florida, QB
The most scrutinized prospect at the Senior Bowl struggled throughout his first day. Tebow repeatedly dropped snaps, and had a tough time hitting open receivers. While it is apparent that he has been attempting to work on his unorthodox delivery, his elongated wind up and tendency to pat the ball before releasing, clearly impact his accuracy. Given the huge disparity of opinions regarding his draft status, Tebow must quickly rectify his issues to prevent his stock from plummeting this week.
Tim still has a full week left of practice plus the game on Saturday to show NFL Scouts he has what it takes to be a NFL quarterback. Tim has great accuracy on short and downfield passes, he’ll just need to keep working on taking snaps and getting the ball out quickly.
Here’s a video of Tebow throwing some passes during the first day of practice.
]]>“The fact that Tim Tebow is coming here and willing to expose himself to this kind of scrutiny, I think, speaks volumes to the type of kid that he is,” Mike Mayock (an NFL analyst) said. “Here’s a guy that’s arguably the best football player that ever played college football. Yet most NFL scouts will probably put him in the third round. He’s got some major issues here, but he’s so impressive a kid and those intangibles are so high.”
The players with go through their first weigh-ins and have practice today in front of hundreds of NFL scouts and coaches. It will be nerve racking for all of the guys. Your Senior Bowl performance can make or break you. We’ve seen guys sky rocket up the draft charts and we’ve seen guys fall.
“Coach Meyer called me last night and he said, ‘Promise me one thing: Just be you and you’ll be fine.’” Tebow said Sunday. “I’m just going to be me. I’m going to be excited, I’m going to be passionate, I’m going to have fun. I’m going to love playing the game out there, just like I always have. Hopefully the coaching staffs and the owners and general managers will just like me.”
Tebow also said that he is practicing only at the quarterback position while in Alabama for the Senior Bowl. In the past we’ve seen guys like Drew Bennett, Matt Jones and Zach Miller move from the QB position to the TE/WR position at the Senior Bowl to show scouts they can play multiple positions. Not Tim though.
“I’m here to be an NFL quarterback,” he said.

]]>“It’s something where I get an opportunity to play with a lot of great players and get coached by a lot of great coaches in the NFL,” Tebow said in a press release, “and an opportunity to work in an NFL system and do things that a lot of people haven’t seen me do like go under center and take the drops and be in a pro style system.
“The NFL has been a dream of mine since I was a little boy, and I’m now getting close to capturing that dream, and I want to do everything I can to show that I can play quarterback.”
The Senior Bowl will kick off at 3 p.m. in Mobile, Ala., on January 30 and be aired on the NFL Network. The 2010 coaches are Jim Schwartz (Detroit Lions) and Tony Sparano (Miami Dolphins). Sparano will be coaching the South team, so expect him to keep a close watch on Tebow. Miami and their wildcat offense would be a great place for Tim to go.
