You are going to see a lot of Tim Tebow tonight. The final preseason game is pretty much played for the guys at the bottom of the depth chart who are fighting for a spot. Now, Tim Tebow isn’t fighting for a spot on the Broncos … but the starters are typically only going to play 1-2 series in the game … leaving over 3 full quarters or work for the backups.

“You’re going to get a full dose of Tim Tebow,” Ryan Harris (Broncos’ offensive lineman) said of tonight’s Vikings-Denver Broncos exhibition game at the Metrodome. “He’ll be playing a lot.” I expect Brady Quinn (who is on the hot seat in Denver) to get a few series in the first quarter, then it will be all Tim the rest of the game. The Broncos will have special plays for him in the regular season and need to get him as much game work as possible.

“He’s a gamer, man,” Harris said of Tebow. “You can see why he was successful in college. And he’s a very good guy — what you see is what you get. He’s as true as you see on TV. That’s how he is every day. He’s got good leadership. But I think he’s learning that leadership is a little different in the NFL than in college. He’s doing a good job. He’ll help us win.”

The Vikings have one of the best defenses in the NFL, including a top pass rush from guys like Jared Allen. Thankfully, the Vikings defensive starters won’t be playing much (if at all) tonight either. Tim shouldn’t have a hard time lighting up the Vikings secondary. I expect Tim to take a lot of snaps from under the center and work on this short game passes – the ones in the 5-10 yard range. By the end of the game, I’m predicting Tim Tebow will have 250 yards, 2 touchdowns and 1 interception. The Broncos are going to throw the ball a lot tonight.

What do you predict for Tim Tebow’s performance tonight? Post a comment and let me know.

Tebow Out vs. Detroit http://www.tebowzone.com/2010/08/tebow-out-vs-detroit/ http://www.tebowzone.com/2010/08/tebow-out-vs-detroit/#comments Sun, 22 Aug 2010 18:29:21 +0000 David http://www.tebowzone.com/?p=961 The Denver Broncos were without rookie quarterback Tim Tebow on Saturday night in their second preseason game vs. the Detroit Lions. Tim is still nursing some bruised ribs he received on a last minute touchdown run in the previous preseason game. Tebow missed a lot of practices last week, so it was pretty clear the coaches weren’t going to risk playing him. Had this of been a real game, Tim may have been out there.

Hopefully he continues to ice down the ribs and gets back onto the practice field this week. Tim likely wouldn’t play much in week 3 of the preseason anyway – this is the weekend the coaches let the starters go for 3 full quarters – but they would still probably run him out there for a few special plays. Plus, it’s great experience for Tim to be on the sideline in pads rather than street clothes.

We’ll keep you updated.

Recap of Tim Tebow’s Preseason Game 1 http://www.tebowzone.com/2010/08/recap-of-tim-tebows-preseason-game-1/ http://www.tebowzone.com/2010/08/recap-of-tim-tebows-preseason-game-1/#comments Mon, 16 Aug 2010 10:12:58 +0000 David http://www.tebowzone.com/?p=952 The Denver Broncos played the Cincinnati Bengals last night in what was Tim Tebow‘s first NFL game. The Broncos lost by a final score of 33-24, but as we said before – it doesn’t matter who wins or loses in preseason, all we hope for is no injuries. Tim played OK for a rookie in his first game. He definitely made some mistakes, but he also made some good throws.

Tim took the field at the 4:39 mark of the 3rd quarter. The game was in Cincinnati but you could see quite a few Tebow jerseys in the crowd, but for the most part it was a lot of boo’s. “Yeah, I heard it,” he said, chuckling. “It got me more excited to go out there and play.” Tim is used to hearing a lot of boos from every opposing stadium he’s gone to.

On Tim’s opening drive he made a great 35 yard pass down the sideline to Willis, but the open wide receiver couldn’t pull the ball in. That’s one thing that sucks about playing with the 3rd string – you have a bad offensive line protecting you and receivers who can’t catch / won’t make the team. Speaking of bad offensive line play, with about 3:40 left in the 4th quarter a rusher came unblocked from Tim’s blindside and just clocked him – forcing the ball loose in the process. It was picked up and return for a touchdown. Tim has to be aware of his surroundings, but the running back completely missed his block so the blame is on him.

Tebow scored his first NFL (preseason) touchdown on the last play of the game. It was a scramble from about 7 yards out. He got stuck in the gut as he crossed the goal line but it looked like he wasn’t phased. “I saw an opening, so I went to go get it and thankfully got in there,” Tebow said. This is one of the reasons the Broncos drafted Tim Tebow. Defenses will have to stay honest knowing they have a QB who can run back there.

Here are the Tim Tebow highlights in case you missed it.

Tim Tebow’s NFL Preseason Debut vs. The Bengals http://www.tebowzone.com/2010/08/tim-tebows-nfl-preseason-debut-vs-the-bengals/ http://www.tebowzone.com/2010/08/tim-tebows-nfl-preseason-debut-vs-the-bengals/#comments Fri, 13 Aug 2010 10:25:10 +0000 David http://www.tebowzone.com/?p=950 If you’ve been following Tebow Zone since the beginning, then you know that the Thursday or Friday before one of Tim Tebow‘s games we like post a game preview where we outline key matchups, stats to look at and go over our predictions. Well, preseason is a little bit different because we don’t know exactly how much playing time Tim will get and teams don’t care if they win or lose.

Even if the outcome of Sunday’s game vs. the Cincinnati Bengals doesn’t matter, that still isn’t slowing Timmy down.

“I’m very excited about it,” Tebow said after Thursday’s training camp practice, during which the team began installing its game plan for the opening exhibition. “It’s somewhat of a dream come true. Even though it’s just a preseason game, it’s still playing a game in the NFL and, you know, I can’t lie. There will be a lot of emotions going through me.”

Tim is listed as third on the depth chart so he will see playing time in the late 3rd quarter and 4th quarter. It will be tough to evaluate Tim’s performance based solely on stats – he’ll be playing behind the third string offensive line and throwing to third string receivers. What we want to look for on Sunday is that Tim has a good feel for the position, he shows pocket presence, delivers a few passes with his new throwing motion, and shows solid footwork in a 5-7 step drop.

“I definitely will have a lot of pride in wearing those colors, have a lot of pride in playing for the Broncos – also, a lot of humility in having the chance to play a game in the NFL,” he said. “I just want to take advantage of it, just try to go through my assignments, do everything I was taught to do and, just enjoy it. Just have fun, that’s what it’s about and that’s usually when I play my best.”

I’ll go ahead and predict some stats for you, but I’m really just taking a wild guess. 7/12 passing for 88 yards – no touchdowns, no interceptions. He’ll also rush the ball 2 times for 10 yards. I think the Bengals will win the game though because they’ll outscore the Broncos 1st team.

The game will be broadcast live on the NFL Network and locally in Denver and Cincinnati.

Tim Tebow 2010 Draft Recap http://www.tebowzone.com/2010/04/tim-tebow-2010-draft-recap/ http://www.tebowzone.com/2010/04/tim-tebow-2010-draft-recap/#comments Fri, 23 Apr 2010 10:31:49 +0000 David http://www.tebowzone.com/?p=720 First, I want to welcome all the Denver Broncos fans to my Tim Tebow fan site – you all crashed my server last night! Hahah – that’s a good thing though. It’s great to know that a city like Denver with their legions of fans are behind Tim Tebow. When I woke up this morning, I immediately went to all the major news sites online to see what they were saying about Tim. After searching, it’s pretty obvious that he is the talk of NFL right now and the face of this Draft Class, not Sam Bradford who went #1 overall. Right now, Tebow on the front page of ESPN.com, NFL.com, FoxSports.com, CBSSports.com, CNNSI.com and countless others.

Tim’s agent said that he would become the most marketable player in the history of the NFL, all the coverage from last night and this morning is just the first drop in the bucket. I’m sure he’ll be on the cover of every single magazine this week as well. Did you also notice that Tim Tebow was the only player ESPN interviewed for like 3-4 minutes? They had tons of players filmed at their houses, but only Tim got the exclusive. Check it out:

Thanks to the Jay Cutler trade last year, the Denver Broncos had two first round selections in this year’s draft. They were able to trade down several times with their 11th pick to acquire more picks and move into the 25 slot – a perfect place to grab Tim Tebow.

There’s is definitely some risk involved with this pick – but that can be said about all NFL rookies. Josh McDaniels has a great offensive mind and is a student of Patriots coach Bill Belichick. He’ll know exactly how to coach Tim and build him into a franchise quarterback. The Broncos currently have 4 quarterbacks on their roster including Kyle Orton and Brady Quinn. Tebow should be given every chance in training camp to compete for the starting job against those two guys.

Once again, Congratulations Tim Tebow! I’m glad that this is all done and over with – time to move on to the next chapter in your life.

Time for me to start reskinning this site with Bronco team colors and updating the site navigation!

Denver Broncos Select Tim Tebow! http://www.tebowzone.com/2010/04/denver-broncos-select-tim-tebow/ http://www.tebowzone.com/2010/04/denver-broncos-select-tim-tebow/#comments Fri, 23 Apr 2010 02:11:16 +0000 David http://www.tebowzone.com/?p=718 With the 25th pick in the first round the Denver Broncos select former Florida Gator quarterback Tim Tebow! Denver is a perfect place for Tim to go – a tough cold weather team in rebuilding mode. All the ESPN experts are having a cow because they all thought Tim was a 5th round pick. This just goes to show that Mel KIper and co don’t know crap!

Congratulations Tim Tebow! The Broncos have a serious need a quarterback and I wouldn’t be surprised if Tim has a chance to compete for the starting job right away.

I will have a complete write up on the draft and the Denver Broncos expectations for Tim Teboe on Friday morning.

Go Tim!

Tim Tebow Works Out For Denver http://www.tebowzone.com/2010/04/tim-tebow-works-out-for-denver/ http://www.tebowzone.com/2010/04/tim-tebow-works-out-for-denver/#comments Wed, 21 Apr 2010 12:01:27 +0000 David http://www.tebowzone.com/?p=714 Add the Denver Broncos to the list of teams that have brought Tim Tebow in for a private workout. The former Heisman Trophy winner worked out Monday in Gainesville, Fla., for Denver Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels. Denver has the 11th overall pick, plus two picks in the second round – 43 and 45. I love Tebow and his NFL potential but I don’t think Denver would be using an 11th overal pick on Tim… but the fact that they have two second rounders does bode well.

The Broncos are hurting at the quarterback position. They currently have Kyle Orton, Brady Quinn and Tom Brandstater on their roster – yah you could say they REALLY need QB help. I think Tebow would be a good fit in Denver. The Broncos are a tough, cold weather team. They’ve been getting rid of their locker room cancers like Brandon Marshall and Jay Cutler. You can tell McDaniels is really trying to build something.

Tebow will be a 1-2 year project for any team he gets selected to. The Broncos are loaded with picks this year and next… they might just think Tim Tebow is the perfect player to build around long term.

Tebow has had private workouts with five NFL teams: Minnesota, New England, Seattle, Washington and Denver.
