There’s no doubt that Tim can hit… in fact, more times than not he will purposely look for someone to run over rather than running out of bounds or sliding. When you’re playing linebacker you don’t have to worry about anything but tackling the opposing players. I know there is technically more to it than that, but you get the point.
So I’ve set up a poll to see how many of you think Tim Tebow could make it as a linebacker in the NFL. A team will draft Tim to be a quarterback in this league, and they’ll give him a shot… but do you think Tim could be used as like a wildcat QB and a situation linebacker? A true duel position player.
Picture it now – Tim Tebow lining up as a backer then Percy Harvin comes running a route across the middle of the field and BOOM … Tebow lights him up, flattens Percy right there on the field.

You can view the a< href="http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d815d58ce&template=with-video-with-comments&confirm=true" rel="nofollow">draft here.
He has only one quarterback going in the entire first round, and that’s Oklahoma’s Sam Bradford to the Arizona Cardinals with the 26th pick.
People will argue till the cows come home on whether or not Tim Tebow has first round NFL talent, but I can put my Tebow Zone guarantee on the fact that he will be picked in the first round. Too many teams will be sitting there, wondering what if… what if we take Tim Tebow. There are a bunch of teams that need quarterbacks and even more teams that need good character football players.
]]>On Tuesday, the Jaguars held a Team Teal pep rally to drive ticket sales. While there, Jaguars General Manager Gene Smith (the guy who drafts players) had this to say about Tim Tebow.
“I hope he has a great career in the NFL wherever it’s at, whether we’re a cat in this hat or somewhere else in the league,” said Smith. “He’s gonna be successful at anything he pursues in life.”
Smith also praised Tebow’s efforts in the community and his leadership. In discussing the way Tim willed himself and his team to some victories in college, Gene said, “I’m a firm believer that will wins more than skill.”
Nobody knows what will happen until Draft Day. Every team in the NFL will take a hard look at Tim. The Jaguars are linked to him so much for a few reasons:
1. Tim Tebow is from Jacksonville, so he’d be playing in front of his hometown crowd
2. The Jaguars need a quarterback
3. The Jaguars have serious ticket sale issues and Tim would definitely bring in new fans
4. The Jaguars lack star power and you can’t find a bigger super star than Tim Tebow in the draft
5. The Jaguars lack leadership in the locker room
Tim Tebow can cure all the Jaguars ills … as long as he produces and becomes a good NFL player. Will the Jags take the risk and pick him with their first selection, we’ll see!
]]>It is very important for Tim Tebow to be drafted into a good situation for him to succeed in the NFL. I love Timmy just as much as anyone, but I think he needs to be put into a situation that allows him to learn under a solid veteran QB and a great coaching staff. If a team like the Raiders or Bills draft Tim Tebow and throw him into the fire on Day 1, I’m afraid he might not succeed.
Now don’t get me wrong. Tim has all the physical tools and intangibles (work ethic, leadership, etc) that will allow him to develop into a pro quarterback. But the keyword here is ‘develop.’ I think it will serve Tim much better to be drafted by a team like the Saints, Patriots, Colts or Seahawks – a team that has an established QB and won’t need Tebow to be the man from the moment he reaches mini camp. A team where Tebow can learn the game, work on his mechanics and be ready to step in 2-3 years from now as a starting QB.
As a Jaguar fan, part of me wants to see him here and part of me doesn’t. I think the pressure in Jacksonville of him having to save this franchise might be too much. But we’ll get into that another day. There’s plenty of time from now until the draft.
Tim Tebow is an anomaly – the NFL draft has never seen a player like this come in. It will be interesting to see what happens, but really I hope he gets drafted to a good team with great coaching.
