The week before the Super Bowl, Tim Tebow was a busy man making rounds across several cities. One stop Tebow made was in Houston, where he was the featured speaker at the Born To Be Wild: The Man Journey, events at Houston’s Champion Forest Baptist Church. Tim gave a quick Q&A about what it means to be a mentor to other men.
Q: What kind of pressure do you face as an athlete who professes faith in Jesus?
A: There are definitely a lot of eyes on you. Some may see it as pressure, but I see it as more of a platform with responsibility. As a quarterback, you have so much influence, and you can do so much with that. My goal is to be an encouragement to people.
Q: Why do you think it’s important for men to mentor other men?
A: I think it’s very important to have someone to look up to. When I was a little boy I had Danny Wuerffel to look up to and a lot of great role models. It’s encouraging to watch someone else and see how they do things. It’s better to learn from others than to have to make your own mistakes.
