Tim Tebow vs. the Jacksonville Jaguars

The Denver Broncos are headed to Jacksonville, Florida with an opening week showdown against the Jaguars. The Broncos and Jags have a lot of history – remember it was the Jaguars (in their second year as a team) who knocked the Broncos out of the 1996 playoffs when Denver was widely considered the best team in the AFC. From that moment, a fierce rivalry was born.

Tim Tebow will get to experience that rivalry first hand now as a member of the Broncos … I just hope Coach McDaniels has Tim activated for the game. Tim is currently listed as 3rd on the depth chart at the QB position, but that can all change on gameday. Even if Quinn is the #2 QB on Gameday, I still think McDaniels finds a way to get Tim on the field… maybe by designating him as a different position?

I’m expecting Tim to get 1 or 2 pass attempts and then also be used on the field as a decoy… Maybe they’ll line up two quarterbacks in the backfield or motion Tim to the outside – there will be some kind of “wildbronco” formation.

Kickoff is at 1:00 P.M. eastern. It’s going to be extremely hot and humid as well – I don’t think there is rain in the forecast. I’ll be at the game on Sunday so I’ll be able to give a solid report about the number of Tebow fans in the stadium. With this being Tim’s first NFL game and his homecoming I think it’s going to be crazy. I’ll try to shoot some pictures too.

My score prediction: Jaguars 21 Broncos 17

Thanks David, for todays information on the possibility of Tim playing on Sunday. It is encouraging to read your thoughts. I don’t find that we are scheduled to receive the game on CBS here in Central Florida. That is very disappointing. We look forward to your review of the game.

Thank you in advance for the report from the game, David.

I can’t believe that the NFL isn’t even allowing us to buy the game on PPV. All of the pre-season games were eventually aired on NFL Network. Does anyone know if they do that w/regular-season games, too?

@Vera: Even if the game’s not going to be available on tv, it will most likely be available online.
