The Denver Broncos lost of the Minnesota Vikings last night in the final preseason game of the season by a score of 31-24 … but really, who cares about the score to a preseason game. Tim Tebow saw a lot of playing time last night. He came into the game in the first quarter around the 5:00 mark and left at the end of the 3rd. He was tested and made mistakes, but also overcame some of them and played a pretty good game. Tim ended completing 12 of 16 passes 167 yards with 1 touchdown, 1 interception and 1 fumble.
The fumble came on a missed snap on the very first play Tim was in the game. Tim was under center and just bobbled the snap — I couldn’t tell if the center snapped it bad or if Tim just didn’t handle it. The Vikings scooped the ball up and ran it back for a touchdown. At the end of the first quarter, Tebow threw his only interception of the game. He had a man deep up the center of the field about 30 yards away, Tim just under threw it. If Tim had put a little more umph on that ball it would have been a sure fire touchdown.
After that play Tim kind of settled down. He completed a nice 40 yard pass and a couple more 20 yard passes. Despite two more turnovers by Broncos RBs and WRs … Tim hung in there and completed a great 45 yard touchdown pass in the 3rd quarter to Matt Willis.
Overall it was a decent performance. You can definitely tell he still has more work to do … but there were certainly flashes of greatness. You can see why the Broncos selected him to be their quarterback of the future.
For those of you who missed the game — here are the highlights.
Tim is progressing so quickly that the Broncos have to be ecstatic about investing their 1st Round pick in him. He obviously has won over the respect of the veterans on his O Line and just needs more game action to trust what he’s seeing and deliver the ball with authority. We know he’s outworking everyone on the team and will seize whatever opportunity presents itself during the regular season to lead the Broncos offense and foreshadow the wonderful contributions he’ll be making to the team’s future success. GO GETEM TIM!!!
Couldn’t agree more with the above commentary! Tim Tebow is special and hope God continues to protect/promote him for all his hard work! Great game Tebow and know you will continue to do well at being a REAL NFL QB…THE BRONCOS ARE FORTUNATE AND BLESSED!! (Watched the Gators Sat., but not the same as when you were there, of course! Wish Coach Meyer all the best as he molds the team to his always high standards.)
