Tim Tebow was in his hometown of Jacksonville, Florida for his first regular season NFL game. For the most part, it was pretty uneventful for Tim. He was listed as the Broncos #2 QB (as expected) and was out on the field for a handful of plays. Coach McDaniels ran Tim out there as the QB for two plays – both plays he ran the ball right up the middle for like 1 yard. Tim also lined up as a wide receiver on a play. I was in the stands watching, and didn’t see him out there any other time — though he may have saw some action while I was getting a water. The Broncos lost the game 24-17.
The crowd had a lot of Gator fans and a lot of Tebow fans – but they didn’t make as much noise as I thought … at least not in my section. Had Tim completed a big pass or had a nice run I’m sure the place would have erupted. There were definitely lots of Tebow Bronco jerseys and Tebow Gator jerseys … the Jag fans gave some people a hard time, but nothing was too serious. It was awesome to see so many people show support for a single player.
It was good for the Broncos to get Tebow some playing time and to run him out of the field so he could get some experience. It’s a whole different game going up against a 1st string defense than it is vs. the 3rd stringers he saw in the preseason.
I expect in coming games Coach McDaniels will continue to use Tim in a handful of plays — giving opposing teams something to think about. If starter Kyle Orton ever gets hurt, the Broncos will need Tim to be ready and comfortable.
Here are some pictures of Tim at the game.
Thanks for the recap and the great pictures of Tim. Hopefully, these baby steps now will turn into great leaps of success on the field for him in the future. God has a plan!
Yes, I was definitely planning to go and had my ticket too! Due to circumstances, had to rearrange plans; however, was able to follow on the internet plus, they showed the game on TV during the last quarter so that was almost like being there, I guess?! Glad to see that he moved up to the second QB slot b/c he should be rewarded for his more than superior work ethic! Again, thank you for posting and keeping all his supporters/fans up-to-date. Broncos could have won this…if only!! GO BRONCOS/GATORS/TEBOW!!! GBX2/CK
Dang, his hair sure did grow back out fast!
I was at the game and it was crazy! I had a Tebow Bronco jersey on and when we lost I got a few comments from some of the fans but nothing bad. I wish they would have put Tebow in more and let him throw a pass but all they let him do was run And it was beyond hot. Hottest game in Jaguar History.
I was at the game in my bronchos Tebow jersey. I was very surpised at the about of “razing” I received for suporting Tebow. I thought Jag fans would welcome the home town boy. It was my first NFL game and I was glad to be there to support Tebow the “Hater’s” will just have to get over it.
This young man will someday be the best QB ever… This was his first NFL game.. I hope Denver continues to play him in every game… that is the only way he is going to get better and better..and he will because that is what he does…
I was at the game too wearing my Tebow Broncos jersey. Got a lot of hate that we were just Gator fans, “Tebow who?” etc etc. Got really annoying and didn’t like the Jags mascot beating up a fake Tebow before the game started. All in good fun, but not a classy move when he is the hometown boy. Hope they incorporate some passing plays in the future- if he runs everytime he goes in, it’s not going to work.
Crazy how you predicted the score almost perfectly! Bummed out that the Bronco’s lost to the Jags, but sentiment towards Tim is still really good here in Denver.
