I mentioned last Friday that we are looking for people to submit stories about how they became fans of Tim Tebow. If you’d like to share your story with us, please send it via the contact form.
Today we have our first post of the series. This one comes from Kelly C., who graduated from Auburn and rooted for a team that actually gave Tim some trouble during his college career.
I attended Auburn University from 2004-2009. During those years there are 2 significant games that I remembered. The 2006 season we were the only team who beat Florida the year they won their National Championship. The 2007 season we went down to the Swamp, a 17 point underdog might I add, and defeated the Gators. Tim Tebow played in those 2 games and I admit I was scared to death of him. He was without a doubt the fiercest competitor of any college football player I have seen.
Going to a school that was in the SEC West I never hated Florida. Primarily because UF belonged to the SEC East and Auburn had more teams to worry about like LSU and Alabama that are in the SEC West. I started watching all of Florida’s games because I loved the animal instincts that Tim Tebow has while playing football. I kept thinking, “Man I wish we had this guy on our team.”
Moving forward I came to faith in Christ last August. At the end of November I gave my testimony in church and there was 1 verse that I used and that was Ephesians 2: 7-9. Tim Tebow wrote that verse on his eye black during the 2009 Sugar Bowl. At that point I instantly became a Tim Tebow fan.
I became a Tebow fan on a faith basis and I am extremely blessed to be going to the Philippines this summer with Mr. Tebow’s family. I will be gone for 2 weeks serving on a mission trip and I am grateful that I became a Tebow fan because of mine and Timmy’s faith. God Bless!
Kelly’s faith is what brought her to become a big fan of Tim Tebow – if you know one thing about Tim it’s that he wears his faith on his sleeve. It’s pretty cool that Kelly will be going to the Philippines this summer with the Tebows. I’m sure there are a lot of you that have similar stories… we’d love to hear them!
