There had been a lot of speculation over the last few weeks on if Tim Tebow will play in the Senior Bowl coming up. The Senior Bowl is played in Mobile, Alabama and showcases the best NFL draft prospects of those collegiate players who have completed their eligibility. Generally a senior will want to play in this game if he feels he can improve his draft stock. Over the weekend, Tim Tebow officially decided he will play in the Senior Bowl – giving him one more chance to prove to NFL scouts he can play QB.
“It’s something where I get an opportunity to play with a lot of great players and get coached by a lot of great coaches in the NFL,” Tebow said in a press release, “and an opportunity to work in an NFL system and do things that a lot of people haven’t seen me do like go under center and take the drops and be in a pro style system.
“The NFL has been a dream of mine since I was a little boy, and I’m now getting close to capturing that dream, and I want to do everything I can to show that I can play quarterback.”
The Senior Bowl will kick off at 3 p.m. in Mobile, Ala., on January 30 and be aired on the NFL Network. The 2010 coaches are Jim Schwartz (Detroit Lions) and Tony Sparano (Miami Dolphins). Sparano will be coaching the South team, so expect him to keep a close watch on Tebow. Miami and their wildcat offense would be a great place for Tim to go.
What about the other Florida Seniors? Why haven’t any other Gators announced whether they are coming to the Senior Bowl yet? Will Brandon James’ foot surgery keep him from playing in the Senior bowl?
