So We Won’t Know Till Game-Time
Florida Gator head Coach Urban Meyer has come out and said that Tim Tebow will be a game time decision. The decision will be up to the medical staff at Shands (not some team doctors on the UAA’s payroll). Tim has been practicing all week and going through the drills as if he is going to play. However, apparently loud noises could still bother him. If Tim gets to Death Valley and the loud crowd noise bothers him, then you know symptoms are still present and he shouldn’t play.
With concussions though, once you’re cleared to play then you’re good. There is no gray area. It’s not like an ankle injury where if you wait an extra week you get better. With concussions either you’re good to go or you’re not. An extra week won’t matter. With Tim having practiced all week I have to believe that they expect him to play on Saturday. I think they would know by now if he wasn’t going to be ready and they’d want to get Brantley even more work just in case. This could all just be Coach Meyer playing games with LSU and keeping them guessing.
LSU is going to be a very tough game. Traveling to Baton Rouge for a night game has meant certain defeat for something like 40 of the last opposing teams. LSU never gets beat at home in a night game… let alone when they are a Top 5 team. With Tebow in the game the Gators have a better chance of winning. Tebow is the master at short yardage plays and scares the heck out of defenses with his legs and his arm.
Tim Tebow has played LSU 3 times in his career and has a 2-1 record against them. He generally plays great against the Tigers, even having scored 3 touchdowns against them as a rookie. With Tebow in the lineup I really like the Gators chances to cover the 9.5 point spread. I think Tim can go something like 18-24 for 240 yards and 2 touchdowns, plus 35 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Gators win by a finl score of 31-17.
