We are just over 24 hours away from kickoff at the 2008 SEC Championship game in the Georgia Dome. Tim Tebow and the Fighting Gators will take on the No. 1 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide. The game is on at 4:00 PM EST and the entire nation will be watching. General consensus says that the winner of this game will be in the BCS National Title game.
Tim Tebow has only faced Alabama once in his career. It came as a Freshman in 2006. Tim wasn’t the starter back then, but he still had 1 completion for 23 yards, 9 rushes for 28 yards, and a touchdown. That was a different Alabama team. Now they have Nick Saban, one of the best coaches in college football. Now they have a strong, fast defense. Now they are hungry.
It’s a good thing Tim Tebow is just as fast, just as strong, and even hungrier for a championship. Tebow wants to build a legacy at UF. “When I came to Florida, I wanted to win championships,” Tebow said. “Winning the Heisman is a great award. I’m thankful for it. But it’s nothing compared to a championship.” A win tomorrow will put him in position to do just that.
Tebow will likely be without his best option Percy Harvin. He’ll need to check his options and spread the ball around. He’ll need to be smart with the ball and avoid turnovers (something he’s done all season).
The Gators are favored by 10 points in this game, but I like it to be closer. Gators 38 Alabama 31.
