Tebow A Walter Camp Award Finalist

In addition to being named the Southeastern Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, Florida QB Tim Tebow was also named a finalist for the Walter Camp Football Foundation’s player of the year award.

The SEC awarded him with the Offensive Player of the Week award because Tebow led the Florida offense to their seventh-straight game of 42 or more points in the Gators’ 45-15 victory over Florida State in Tallahassee. The Maxwell Award finalist accounted for four total touchdowns, going 12-for-21 for 185 yards and three passing scores. The victory at FSU marked the eighth-straight game that the junior passed for at least two touchdowns, the longest streak of his career. Tebow rushed for 80 yards on 16 carries with a four-yard touchdown run for his 12th rushing touchdown of the season.

As for the Walter Camp Award… The other finalists are three quarterbacks — Oklahoma’s Sam Bradford, Texas’ Colt McCoy and Texas Tech’s Graham Harrell — and Harrell’s teammate Michael Crabtree. If Florida can go on to beat Alabama, and Oklahoma loses to Missouri, I think Tebow has a great shot at winning this one.
