I’m a little backlogged on the emails from fans. This one comes from a Gator Alum who took his daughters to the Ole Miss Game. Once again I’ve changed the names of the people involved to protect their identity.
Tim,
I just wanted to thank you for living your faith on and off of the field. I was
blessed by your comments during the SEC media events weeks ago where you told the sports world where your priorities lie. What a challenge to other Christians to keep Jesus first in everything we do especially when we have obtained a the of success and notoriety as you have.I brought my daughters (22 and 19) to their first college game yesterday in the
Swamp (my first in over 20 years). Before the game I was reflecting on your
commitment to Christ and how you had verbalized as I mentioned above. The passage of scripture from Matthew came to mind where Jesus said, “Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”Despite yesterday’s loss to Ole Miss we had a wonderful experience watching the Gators and experiencing Florida football in the Swamp. I know God’s character in you will inspire you to inspire your teammates to “press on toward the mark.”
You are an inspiration to so many!
God bless,
John Jones, UF ’70
